Pizza day

Last night Mollys visit was short due to another snow fall.I asked her to call me when she got home and she did in fact return home safe and sound.I had leftover pizza what did I have for lunch today?Pizza!What did I have for dinner?Yes you guessed it!Pizza.
Tonight I happened to remember to listen to Nanas radio show on 90.3 the Core.She plays a wide veriety of music.Today I just sat around and listened to music while on the computer.

fair friday.

Thos morning I headed out early not sure what the roads were like.The radio reception sucked but I think its because the antenna is frozen and didnt rise up.That wasnt an issue today though.The back roads were a tad hairy but once I got on th main roads they were fine.
I got to work 15 minute early so I had a cup of coffee in the boiler room.I gave Frank a bag of old cassettes I have on CD.He still enjoys cassettes in his Dads car.
I think his dads car is a Monte Carlo which he had detailed and fixed up after his dad died.
He didnt really get a chance to take a close look at the tapes because plowing duty called.I reminded his to be careful and to take breaks from time to time.
Meanwhile there were copies to be made so I finished my coffee and we parted ways.
One of the first things on my list to do is the check the upper and lower wing printers to see if they need paper.Also the printer and Fax in the bosses office ..that is unless he has someone in with him.
Today after work my cousin Molly called to see if I wanted to get together for pizza and beer.Naturally I said yes.I pay for the pizza and she brings the beer.Sometimes we sit and watch TV and other times well listen to tunes.She likes to catch up on the news after work so mostly its good ol fox 5 or CNN!
OK time to order the pizza!

a heavy right hook from Mother Nature!

Last night we got another couple of inches from mother nature.The phone rang at about 6am saying school was closed.I went back to sleep.
I woke up about 11:30th and had some coffee and checked my email.As much as I wanted to diddle daddle on the computer all day I know there was a heavy task awaiting me.
At about 1pm I got in jeans a t shirt and a hoodie and my boots and coat and headed out to clean off the car.Its wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.it was mostly snow.There were parts of the roof I couldnt really reach well so I hope mr Sun melts it.It took about an hour but I did take a 10 minute bathroom and tea break,then head about for another 20 minutes.
Man I doo hope this is the end of the snow for awhile.We were supposed to have a mild winter!
Now before it gets Dark I want to make sure the car does start.

SometimesI remember who inspired these mixes other than the music.Before I was computer literate I would bring lists of songs I wanted to our librarian Virginia and if they didnt have it by the artist I wanted she would suggests someone else and Id go for it.Many times Id discover new music through the library as I still do today!

I woke up and was listening to 101.5.People were calling in saying how slipper it was on the road.my question is if you had both hands on the wheel and NOT on the phone do ya think you'd be slippin round less?
Jill called around 8:45 to say the roads were slippery and not to come in today.I went back to bed for a spell and woke up about 11:30 and checked the mail and let Bayou out.My plans to get more CD rs are on hold yet again.

End of January Music news and idle Chatter

January is coming to a close.Frank Predicts warmer weather in 2 weeks.I pressed him for an exact date but he replied "I'm not Jesus"
Last night Nancy gave me a receipt for my bike and it says I get a free tune up a year after it purchased.Yay!Oh but gosh will I remember how to ride it by the time warmer weather comes?Its been one heck of a long winter so far..lol!
Well I do have some DJ gigs to looks forward to.
Earth day ,Davy Jones Day,And yes Music and movie nights and the clam bake.Dates will be announced.
I made a mix called island vacation and will post the track listing soon.I also made an oldies mix and that also will be posted soon.
I noticed its staying light till 5pm now.Spring can't be far behind!Although winter is brittle and cold I must say that I love the sunsets.Some sunsets are so awesome it blows my little mind and calms my soul and gives me hope.Theres also great things to looks forward to when spring does arrive.
Green Grass,Warm breezes and salty air,Bikes rides,power walks,Seeing Dr Cheeko,Mike Dalton and The Jaime Brown Experience at Martells,Walks on the Boardwalk,Beers or wine on the porch,opening windows,Seeing the trees and garden bloom and DJ gigs.
Oh yes with spring does bring allergies but Claritan D works well for me.

Its friday

Another cold north west wind is blowing and the sky looks like snow was in the works an out 1pm today but didn't happen..yet!
Today I read a beautiful article about my friends Eric Hemion and Chris wojcik working on a music video together.Its a Oceanic scene set to classical music.
Chris is a great Videographer and Marine Biologist and Eric is a talented singer,songwriter and composer.I hope this project brings them both more work.
Its now light out till a tad past 5pm.This brings hope that warmer days are coming soon.This is one of the coldest and snow infested winters Ive seen in a while.
OK more good news.Bayou got her stitches out.When she walks her pace is a little faster.
OK now for a glass of wine and dinner!

Heaven and earth

Today I changed the anouncement sign in from of the school.I had to tread a few inches of snow and pray to God I didnt fall.
Later Frank asked me who told me to do that and I told him Jill.He said had he known I was going to go out there He would have dugged a path for me.Hmm never thought of that..but then again hes busy as it is so I just sucked it up and did it.
Some thing we do for king and kingdom will be rewarded.Im sure when I say that most people at school think Im talking about Walter our principal as the king and the school as the kingdom.Im my mind Im thinking of Jesus as the king and heaven as the kingdom.
My Friend Beth Nicholas reminds me that I'll be blessed for my integrity.
When people or situations start to get to me I often think of what my mom always told me"give it up to God"
OK I know this is deep but I hope your blessed and encouraged reading this.

the rubber meets the road

It was good to see the sun shining today.The temps got up in the mid 40s.
The game plan for a walk after work began.The wheels of my mind started turning.
I found a blank index card in the boiler room and wrote my list.I included stuff to be done at a later date but wrote it down anyway.
I stopped at out local library after work and picked up some Cd's I ordered.
When I got home my usual duties were priority.Take in the mail and let Bayou out.
Seems here mobility is improving.Her fur on here leg is growing back.I gave her a biscuit after she came and and went and got into jeans and a sweatshirt and headed out.
it felt good.If it weren't for the snow Id bring out the bike.
Stop one was the post office were I mailed out 5 CD mixes to family and other mix pals.
Next and went to the pharmacy.after my pharmacy round I had enough money for wine.yay.
on the way home I thanked God for the chance to take this walk.I heard to snow melting into the gutter.Music to my ears,oh but wouldn't you know more snow is fore casted for tomorrow night.Grr!

2011 could it be the year for good movies

Every now and then Like the music industry the movies industry goes through a lame period only turning out a few winners each year.It seems.2009 -2010 was that year for movies.Hollywood Seemed to get fixated on a certain subject from time to time.
Recently its been Zombies and Vampires!Yuck!
How much blood and guts can one stand?OK just expressing my opinion here.
Anyway I hope 2011 is a better year for movies.Of course I can go to the library and borrow a DVD but if nothing good has come out that's good recently theres not much recent to pick from.
Of course Ive heard some stuff from the Apples in Stereo and also the black keys that has me thinking hip hops rein in music is fading.No More obese 20 year olds in mink coats rapping?Maybe they're Dr's said get of the mics and get in the gym oh yeah and learn proper English too!lol.
Whatever happened to cool guys like the fresh prince and MC Hammer?They grew up,got married and had kids.word!
This year I might check out if American idol is kinder and Gentler to it contestants now that that nasty Simon's gone.

Snow snow melt away!

The snow the weatherman said was going to come indeed arrived.It gave me and my sister a day off from work and the kids a day off from school.
When I went to clean off my car this afternoon my doors were frozen shut.Of course arctic winds don't help matters any.
I had 4 packages of Mixes to mail out yesterday so thankfully I did do that in the morning before I went to work.I parked in the municipal parking lot and one of the firefighter saw me and gave me a nice picture of me DJing.It was a nice picture.
Im hoping im able to get into my car tomarrow to get to work.
The snow is pretty to look at but it sure screws up traveling!

A long cold winter

Yesterday we got another sampling of snow.Chip was called into work to salt the roads.His wonderful wife Joyce was able to pick me up and bring me to the firehouse where my gear awaited me on a table in the rear of the truck bay ready for set up.
The cables weren't as tangled as I thought.
I adjusted the levels on the speakers and did a sound check.Thankfully there was no feedback on the mic.Last week I did have feedback issues but I think It was because the volume on one speaker was too high.
I played my Cocktail hour CD for yes cocktail hour.I played a CD I made dad in 05 during dinner,then picked the tempo up after that.A few folks danced.
I played 2 songs Joyce requested at the end and pumped the volume up a bit then I noticed the trucks started being back in.
The truck bay wasn't chilly like I expected it to be.I guess having all that fire gear you need decent heating.
Lots of town officials were there and although Chip said I didn't need to dress up I did go Business Casual.A pair of jeans and my white button down shirt!I'm glad I did because members of the Town Council were there and so was the mayor!
I wanted to wear nice shoes but the weather obviously did NOT permit that so on went the boots.
Although not many Dance I received positive feedback.
I expect my next gig wont be till spring...but you never know!

a challenging week that ended well

Phew,Thank God its friday.This week seemed longer than most but all is well,The Car Battery is charged,Thank you Dan.
Bayou had the surgery on her leg and is recovering nicely.Last night I heard her moaning a little and it made me sad.I knew she was in pain.
Tonight I called Tyler Sherman and Joans bypass surgery went well.Im happy about that.
This afternoon Chip picked up my DJ gear and brought it the firehouse.After he left I had a beer and took a 2 hour nap in the green chair.
When I woke up I went to say hi to Bayou.She wagged her tain and gave me a litle lick as if she was saying."I'll pull though.Don't worry about me Trish"

Remember last Thursday when I was kind of itchin' to go out for a walk.Today I got my wish.
I headed out early so I had time to get gas.When I went to start the car, the car battery was dead.I gave it another go just to make sure it wasn't me and sure enough its dead Jim!I called for a taxi and waited 10 minutes and nothing.I finally just said aww heck I'll walk.The only part that was a tad scary was the bridge.Of course the sidewalk on the other side was shoveled but NOT the side I was on.However my guardian angels were watching me.I had to just focus and trust God would get me there safe and sound.
There was no time for coffee or break.There was work to be done.
Frank in the meantime was hard at work shoveling the front of the school.I don't think he got more than a bathroom break today!my heart went out to him!I hope his day went without a heart attack!ahh!

Now that January is here..

Christmas vacation is over.Tomorrow afternoon the christmas tunes will be packed away for another year.sigh!I'll leave the decorations up for a few days more.
Although its quiet,January is a rough month for me.January 16th 2003 is when my mom died.She was a great bridge player,and a mentor to many Battling alcoholsm.She was sober 38 years when she died.She was often on the phone to those needing someone to talk to or dashing off to meet someone for coffee if they needed someone to talk to.
She went to morning mass almost every day..or so it seemed.She was a very spiritual person and positive too and she instilled that in me.
she even came down on Oct 4 2007 and got my dad and took him up to heaven and neither left a note.It was the day before their wedding anniversary. Im sure she was sent to get him!
I remember looking back at the line of cars on the way to the cemetary the procession and outpouring of love was wonderful.
January always is the coldest month of the year too.
OK this January is starting out a little more Cheerier because I have a DJ gigs and all but im sure Im still be think of both my parents on the 16th!

Last night was the Annual Nicholas New Years Eve Party.George ,Tyler, me and anyone else who want to join in on our little Im prove Jam can.I help out on Tamborine and vocals.Its Always a fun time.
Of couse we took dinner breaks and chatted with the other guests.I had a few glasses of wine but paced myself.The only buzz I felt was the natural high from jamming!
I bought a McGyver DVD for Joan and she loved it.
After the party I helped beth clean up and she gave me a ride home.
Today I DJed at Martells For Kristine Tookers Inauguation.Shes a coucil woman in the beachwho I've known since our youth group days.
Despite things she has been though time has stood still for her!
Shes been divorced and widowed and still she keeps the spirit shes had since the day we met!
No ones danced today but i got good feedback on what I did play.Guess everyone is tired from their new years eve parties...or hungover..lol!
Im glad I dint overdo it last night.ah sobriety!Year go ahead say it.brag on girl brag on!
Next week is my gig at the firehouse.Lets see if anyone there dances.
