A gem in the archives

I was going through a pile of CD s in the stereo cabinet in the den and sound this!

My dad Loved my mixes and when I upgraded from cassettes to CDs he was one of the first one I made mixes for other than myself.
This reason its hand written is because I didn't have a printer yet.

More Thanksgiving and random thoughts

So January 2013 Things start to settle down and the process of starting the year on a positive note begins.
Repair and clean up from Hurricane sandy Does too. I anticipate replacing my computer sometime near may or June. Murphy's law steps up my schedule to Mid March when it just crashed. The blue screen of death appeared and nothing will boot up! The words I was using when this happens were as you can imagine bad. Gee I hope I apologized to God for that!
Once again Nancy and Dan came to the rescue and got me a new one. Setting it up didn't take long.
So Big Kudos to them.
Asking for help is something that's hard for me because there are things I want to do myself but can't. Especially things that require heavy lifting. There are time I with I had superhuman strength but I never has much into athletics since high school.
I don't drive at night either because the oncoming lights hurt my eyes and I got headaches after doing so in my early driving days and nights.
In my Last Blog I failed to thank my friend Valerie Boyle for her help in being my roadie On top of being recently divorced, the downstairs of her house was flooded by sandy and is just now halfway repaired.
I complained that I had only one gig last year while many lost their houses. Thats doesn't mean my heart didn't heart for them.it did!
I have so many folks in my life who inspire me to keep on and all I can do is wake up each day and hope to make just one person happy or cheer up one person. All I can do is to do what I do and hope someone is blessed by it.All I can do is do a good job and do my best to set a good example for others and prayer they see my honesty and integrity.
This summer the beaches did reopen. The only challenge was navigating the rocks that were exposed and Not falling and getting hurt
Thankfully no one did!it was a good summer.
Most of my regular patrons returned.
Repairs on the downstairs rooms at BHS are underway thanks to Frank and Tony. I often remind Them to "Please be careful"Franks replies what, you don't want me to have time off? Only if you win the Lottery! I tell him
The new Beach platforms are being built and man are they big!I joked with one guy that we will have to start training boot camp style in the spring to get the strength to get up the stairs.I can see Hank in cammies standing at the top yelling come on up those stairs! Move it! Mooove it!
I continue to make new friends in a community on youtube called the vinyl community. Its a fine group of music lovers who show their music collections and talk about what they listen to.
 www.youtube.com/vinyl community
We all Have one thing in common.we love music. It doesn't matter what format you collect.Records,CDs or tapes.you have a voice in the VC! Some of us send nysuc to each other. We call this VCLT(vinyl community Love train.)
I have been called the CD mix queen by some.My fellow mixmaker Daryl Washington is our King!
There has been so much to be thankful for this year!
A great Family, Wonderful Friends, great jobs, and fun DJ gigs!
 I am blessed!
May you and your family have a healthy thanksgiving!
Peace,Love and Music
Trish

oh Sandy

Hurricane Sandy really know how to pack a punch!shes a home wrecker alright!Lucky for us we had minor damages to the house but my car was flooded out. Bay Head,Mantoloking and other towns south of us were really hit hard.most area schools were also hith with massive flooding. This Past weekend Nancy, the kids and I went to Baltimore and met up with Donna Mullins and her Daughter. I havent been Many places but Baltimore is a nice City! We went to the National Aquarium,Barnes and Noble and The Hard Rock Cafe!We stayed at a beatiful Hotel and had room service for breakfast. We arrived home at 3pm Sunday afternoon. The front of almost every house had items that were ruined by the flood in black plastic bags. There was also furniture. Phone and cable service was restored tonight. I hear we are getting another storm but not as bad as sandy.ugh I hope we don't get anything like that for another 50 years!

Goodbye Big Jim

Thursday I came home from work and did my usual thing,Brought in the mail, let the dog out and checked my email and then a quick visit to facebook. The first thing I see on facebook is my uncle Jim Nortons obit!Kick me in the gut won't you? I know he was sick but reading his obit on facebook was not what I saw coming! There I was sitting at my computer with damn tears running down my face!It took a good 15 minutes to re compose myself.I got changed into jeans and an old BHIA staff T shirt and headed to the beer & wine store for a bottle of wine and a liter of Pepsi,As I was checking out the woman behind the counter was telling me she saw me one day riding my bike on the wrong side of the road.I told her I must have turning down a nearby street. With kids riding double.and with no helmet she has the right to lecture ME on bike safety?WTF??? Walking in the house I was hoping thing would get better. Can I get some good news? As I walked in the kitchen I see a box on the Counter and immediately know it was my order from oldies.com!I raised my right hand in victory saying out loud "YES!!!" Uncle Jim was displaying his powers from above already! I had only 2 glasses of wine but wanted so much to have a third but being it was a work night night better choices prevailed!

goodbye summer,hello school year

As crazy as the weather was this summer I dint destroy my "working vacation" as I call it. I wish I had gotten together with a few folks but I hope to catch up with them in the fall.No earthquakes and no hurricanes but too many thunder storms for my liking. They did insure we didn't have a drought though.Oh those green head flies and mosquito's got me good this summer.OUCH! I wasn't as busy As I thought I would be with DJ gigs this summer but I did enjoy the ones I did have.Special thanks to the Beach House,The Longboard Grill and The Bay Head Fire company for giving me the opportunity to entertain you! Thank you to my road crew Chip,Eric and Daryl and Jamie! The summer with the BHIA was cool too!Thank you to all the bosses and fellow staffers! And so a new year at BHS begins.Go Sharks!

the year in review part 1

Yeah I know, its a tad early to do an end of the year write up but Im inspired.
OK health wise it was not the best but not worse.Turning 50 means high blood pressure.Remembering to take Meds.I hate taking pills.
Work - Im grateful to have a winter job and a summer job.My coworkers are cool and the bosses are too.
Friends - 2 thumbs up!Seriously man!I often think about the ones that dissed me and then I think about the ones who are there for me,stand by me and appreciate me.I truly am blessed and thank God for all he has given me.
Family - we are sometimes are crazy wacky bunch but I love them all.
Music - Oh talk about a rockin year?Hello!I'll save the extensive report on that for part 2 of the year end write up!

The word of the week is BLAZING!

Tonight my cousin Cathy and Molly came over for pizza and beer and a little celebration of Molly's Birthday. We wound up watching Dancing with the stars.
The one Judge Named Len used the word blazing and it stuck with us all night.
I swear Len is a relative of Simon Calwell.Hes the mean. Some of the routines should have gotten a higher score.Im glad J.R and his Partner got a good score.
The Beer Pick of the night was Heineken.A little more expensive but Molly's worth it.I made her a custom mix and a Christmas mix and she isn't that keen on jazz but i told her its time to broaden her musical Horizons.Gotta get her out of that punk and alternative music scene, well perhaps just expand beyond it.

why this time of the year is tough for me

This year October was bearable for me.The many cards and gifts and outpouring of love from Family and friends helped me ease into the big 5 0!
There are a few folks I think of this time of year simply because I miss them like crazy. My parents!Oh but I know they are watching from heaven.
My friend Tom Hall!He would take me to the Stone Pony or the Saint for a show.He didnt drink but he didnt mind if I had one.He was so cool that way.In return I didn't complain about his smoking. It didn't bother me.I've been around smokers all my life!
My little Joy!My faithful companion for 13 years. She died in early november right in front of me.Poor Dog had an enlarged heart.oh there are others but those are the ones that immediatly come to mind this time of year.
Sometimes when I see a dark blue pick up truck that looks like his I think Tom?
OK now some lighter stuff.I started reading the book soul surfer.Yes I know Im supposed to read the book and then see the movie but I got the movie from the library for 2 days so I had to watch it asap.My fines were up to $13.00 and I paid up a few bucks so the library mafia wouldn't hunt me down.lol!
OK back to cleaning my room!
looking forward to November..I think!

the week without internet

Last Monday..or was it Sunday the Phantom returned and with a vengeance.I got around to getting the tower to the shop on Wednesday after the computer totally froze Monday night.I tried everything but the cursor didn't move
A little voice in my head told me to take it in and so I did.
Thursday I was all ready to shoot out and email and walked into my room and reminded it was in the shop when I saw the tower missing.
Thursday night I watched The movie Soul Surfer. Its the story of Bethany Hamilton.A young up and coming surfer who lost her arm to a shark attack.a full review to follow in the days to come.stay tuned!
Friday was an early and busy day at work.
I come to work at 9am on Fridays.I hit the ground running.Copies to be made, notices to be counted, etc etc.Oh i'm not complaining, just stating the facts.
At around 10:30 Jill gave me a note saying see Mr Therien at 11:20.Hmm a special assignment or something else?I didn't dwell on it but was curious.
at 11:15 I entered the office.Jill told me it was a review.Huh?I thought!
the yellow flag in my mind went up.
When I wal;ked in Mr T was sitting at his desk.we started talking about paper usage and why we are using as much as we are.He asked me where its being used the most.I had no clue.He then took at post it note and wrote
"Wheres the paper going?"the Boss
OK now take this down to the teachers room and have then read it.OK I responded obediently.
Walking down to the teachers room I ad libbed a Peggy Lee song in my head
is that all there is to a review?
The teachers room door was closed and when I opened it they were all gather around on one side of the room.SURPRISE!Yep got me!I surprise birthday lunch. You Guys!A big sub and soda and yes of course cake.
10 minutes later The Man came in.I wagged my finger at him Ohh you got me boss,You REALLY got me.That the only time I will get away with wagging my finger at the boss i'm sure..oh it was in pointer NOT in 3rd finger I assure you!My third finger in reserved for folks who deserve it.
After lunch it was back to business.
upon returning home I got a message say the computer was ready but I was pooped,so I called back to say I'd pick it up Monday.
Saturday I DJ-ed at a cocktail Party at the Johnson brothers Boat Museum for a cocktail party for BHS Parents.
Mr Curtis was the bartender.I played all mellow tunes and as the evening was drawing to a close I picked up the pace a tad.Frank and Cathy were my roadies.
I received positive feedback from many and hope to DJ the gala again next year.
A special shout out to Mr O'Brien who runs the museum. That's a beautiful place.
Sunday we had Family over for a belated birthday party. My cousin Cathy reminded me it was a work night and to go easy on the wine.I listened.
so here I am back in action.

Im baaaack!

Thanks to God for his Love and giving me patience over a week without internet.
Also a big Thanks to APV electronics in Point Pleasant for their fast and friendly service!
My computer was infected with a few viruses and Malware that got through the Defenses of AVG.
Last week I celebrated the big 50!Family and friends showered me with phone calls and happy Birthday via facebook.
I even got a call from my brother. All the love and bday greetings reminbded me off all the fine folks im surrounded with and helped me put the lack of internet blues on the back burner.
theres so much to catch up on.I have 2 reviews to post but now to catch up on a dozen emails and reply to facebook greeting.
I'll be back..

great gatherings

This weekend my Cousin Donna visited with her 2 children Keith and Sara.It was awesome.Keith was so great with his new cousins. He was like the big brother. His calm and Patience amazed me.Sara and Amber took to each other too!Any water that got splashed out of the pool Saturday was replaced Sunday by Rain!
The first Beach Sunday at Joyce and Chips went well despite the rain.Seeing and talking to folks I haven't seens in months was great and I got a chance to give out 9 copies of American Pride 2011.
TonightMy friend Pat from across the lagoon came over and invited me for drinks at her place. We also saw some cool fireworks.
The weather was not perfect but it still turned out to be a great weekend in other ways.
I saw lots a great friends at the beach and spend a fine time with my great family!

fair friday.

Thos morning I headed out early not sure what the roads were like. The radio reception sucked but I think its because the antenna is frozen and didnt rise up.That wasnt an issue today though. The back roads were a tad hairy but once I got on th main roads they were fine.
I got to work 15 minute early so I had a cup of coffee in the boiler room.I gave Frank a bag of old cassettes I have on CD.He still enjoys cassettes in his Dads car.
I think his dads car is a Monte Carlo which he had detailed and fixed up after his dad died.
He didnt really get a chance to take a close look at the tapes because plowing duty called.I reminded his to be careful and to take breaks from time to time.
Meanwhile there were copies to be made so I finished my coffee and we parted ways.
One of the first things on my list to do is the check the upper and lower wing printers to see if they need paper. Also the printer and Fax in the bosses office ..that is unless he has someone in with him.
Today after work my cousin Molly called to see if I wanted to get together for pizza and beer.Naturally I said yes.I pay for the pizza and she brings the beer.Sometimes we sit and watch TV and other times well listen to tunes. She likes to catch up on the news after work so mostly its good ol fox 5 or CNN!
OK time to order the pizza!
