My friend Maria gave me a gift card from itunes.I watch a few videos and some folks includes little sound samples when they talk about an artist and some of this songs were purchased on itunes while others were rippied from CDs I received as gifts or part of my collection.

Osibisa music review

I've been turned on to Osibisa since I heard a song a Song of theres on a compilation in the mid 1990s. The title escapes me as I write this but I heard a sample of this on a youtube video. This is an early album of theres from 1972. Its called afro rock. Its a combination of 70s soul and African beats. Thats right in my wheelhouse as they say.

When I was a little girl I heard Neil Youngs song after the gold rush! Years later when I was in high Schhool as asked for it for Christmas!
 Its one of the greatest albums of the 1970s

an epic day of photography

Yesterday started out as a average Sunday. I went to the Beach House annual Surfboard swap and I a few people looking at the water tower and taking pictures. Someone said there was a bald eage up there.
 Some say wild life photography is alot about being in the right place at the right time. well I guess its true

Unknow to me my luch was going to continue! I went to a friend house and saw a Prating Mantis!

OK not an uncommon sight around here but it was an interesting shot  yeah a squirrel in a tree

Last but not least a shot of a neat sscenic shot at my fave Bay Head Cafe Burks Market

CD update

 here are 2 new CDs in my collection

A few years ago I discovered Soundway records. My discovery and education on world music continues! The tracks on the compilation is very Dance able! Being I love African Beats The Meridian Brothers and Bomba Estereo are 2 of my faves so far.

A Blast from the Past

When I was young my Dad had Herb Alpert playing alot. sometimes he would drive me to the bus stop on rainy days and he would have Herb Alpert playing in the cars 8 track player while smoking a pipe!
When I was in 8th grade he gave me his copy of Whipped Cream and other delights! At the time I was into the Bay City Rollers and KC and the Sunshine band so I guess that was his way of introducing me to real music and helping me expand my horizons musically! It worked. Thanks Dad!

I was at a friends house recently when I noticed a lot of bird action. It turns out they have a bird feeder! we were sitting in the back yard when I got this cool photos of some blue jays !
