Catchin' up

Hello folks Its been a while since I've written a straight out blog.Once again Davy Jones day was a great sunny day.The night before I had my doubts mother nature would cooperate BUT Saturday Morning I saw the sun and blue sky and man was I happy. This Saturday im DJing a 50th Anniversary party. So psyched about that.I think there will be 200 people there!Im sure I'll get a few folks dancin. Im not sure when I'll be spinning at Movie night yet but I'll Keep you posted. There maybe a short dry spell after the 50th Anniversary Party or perhaps I'll get a few more gigs.We shall see! Things are gettingbusy at work as we prepare to end another year at BHS.The 8th grade and kindergarden are Practicing for the the promotion ceremonies. Before I know it i'll be returning to my post at the BHIA.It won't be the same without the Zuvers there.Mr Zuver died and Mrs is living in Florida. The dune grass behind there house is high in Parts of the yard.Keeping folks off the dunes without the fence there will be stepped up! I visited my friends at public works today and they are busy! Im going to take a little break from posting stuff on youtube and pay attention to this here blog.Really.I've been neglecting you guys. Today I mailed out 6 packages containing what else..CD mixes!Speaking a mixes the Admin at Zenrunning order is closing down the sight. He is overwhelmed with spam and junkmail and stuff of that sort!I hope to maintain contact with most if not all the fine friends I made there. Im still active with the IMP and the Cool Grooves mix Exchange(My own little mix trade group!) OK so Happy Summer Everyone! Peace,Love and Music Trish Cheers!

Not such a manic Monday

Ah Monday after Thankgiving. The alarm goes off and I press the snooze button for an additional five more minutes but some annoying seagulls were sqwauking like crazy and forcing me up.Dang gulls!
The day went well. Were werent hit with the 3 crates of mail that we usually get after a few days off.
I came home and found 3 mixes awaiting me in the mail.Yeah baby,Yeah!!!
I just got done listening to Wynton Marsalis's CD "Swing into the 21st Century"Good stuff man!Theres some 40s influenced swing and New Orleans style spiced jazz too, along with a taste of bebop!Check it out.
A got a mix from my friend Curt Nicholas whos in the Navy and will go deployed on a Sub in January. Not only is the music selection awesome but the cover of the mix was hand drawn by his girlfriend.
its fabulous artwork.
The second mix was from my fellow mixmaker Kathy from Zenrunning order or zero for short.Thankging is the theme but I'll still listen to it.
The thirt is from Sid.my IMP mixmaker from Ireland.Like me his mixes are very Eclectic.
OK time for Dinner, practing Piano and perhaps weeding out my Bedroom closet.

warm days,chilly nights

Today was a typical busy Monday at work.I got it all though. When I came home I went about my usually duty of letting Bayou out.The warm sun was so nice that it was so tempting to just sit back and relax and bag my game plan for the afternoon.the better judgement won over.
arrr, making good choices!
After letting Bayou back in and giving her a biscuit, I check my email ,got changed and headed out.
I went to mail out a few mixes.Wow it feels good doing that again! Then I went to make copies of the cool Grooves newsletter I send out to members of the mix exchange and a few other folks expressing interest in getting a copy.I made 30.I gave one to Ocean County music,One to Atomic CDs and one to The Longboard Grill.
Upon arriving home there was a truck in the driveway.it had some sort of trailer on it.Theres was Matt,Dans Dad and Tom his best friend unloading firewood from the trailer to the rack.
It brought back memories of a of years ago coming home from a crazy day at work and seeing a pile of firewood the the middle of the driveway on a 20 degree day in Febuary and there was snow on the ground.I remember it also being the day I got my first mix from IMP!
This year I won't be coming home to a giant pile of wood in my driveway. Now I need to make sure I dont back into it on a snowy ice day in febuary!

Its STILL ALIVE

Ive probably blogged about this before and if I did please excuse the rehash.
I've heard folks say no one makes mixtapes anymore.OK well its true and its not.Huh?
People still make mixtapes but now they are actually CDs but some still call them mixtapes.
Im told folks made mixtapes as far back as the 1960s but it really took off in the 1980s with the advent of the dual Cassette player.
There are even groups of us who still enjoy it.Young and not so young.
Want proof
here are 2 sites that will put your doubts to rest
www.zenrunningorder.org
www.internationalmixtapeproject.com
there are more but these are the top of my list.
To find more just google mix tape exchange or mix CD exchange
Its fun!

remembering myspace

Every now and them I wonder what my lost contacts on myspace are doing. There were pluses and minusses to myspace and Id never thought I would say this but Im like facebook better now.Everyone on facebook is someone I actually know.If I hit like on a band or event I dont get advertisements or prototions and no responces to a blog I posted.
There were some cool folks though and I have reconnected with a handful of lost contacts who, like me love making mixes and we still trade.
There were some wierdos too!
I had Moby as a friend and there was this women who wrote him Poetry that was something an eighth grade girl would write. She was truly obsessed with him but swore it was pure love.
I also had a DJ from London as a friend and we corresponded.
Then there was this club from Seaside that would send me advertisements every day ,even after I asked them not too!
I discovered The international mixtrade project through myspace.
My friens Al and Aimmee who I found on myspace still trade with me.
I dont know what got me reminiscing about my myspace days.
From what I hear Myspace isnt as popular as it was was.
Everyone and their mother is on facebook now.
