download vs whole albums /CDs

a While ago my sister told me no one buys whole CD or albums anymore. But serious music collectors do.
The cover art and liner nots are worth it even if there are just a few songs you like at first.
Resently i purchased "Lother and the Hand People" and didnt realized they were a band from the late 60s till I read the liner notes.
I also purchased Procul harums greatest hits and rediscovered old faves.
So go ahead buy The WHOLE thing at your record store or online..whatever.trust me Im right on this one!

Huh???

Today i saw a newsclip that started out saying Genral Mc Chrystal resigned his post and by the end of it it said he was fired.OK he talked to Rolling Stone..why?
yeaH now theres a good choice...lol!
an old teacher once said"That which is in your head doesn't always have to come out of your mouth'how many times has that motto saved me from getting in BIG trouble?hundreds of times!
I've learned over the years that folks WILL blame others for they're actions and NOT have the balls to admit they themselves were at fault.this is called the blame game.Instead of admitting YOU screwed up you blame it on someone else. That someone usually is a loyal person busting they're arss to do what needs to be done without questioning OR understanding.they just do it,trusting the person who told them to do it.yup yup yup..I KNOW!!!!!

another school year is gone

today we closed the door on another school year. The day started at 8am.I spend most of the morning shredding old student documents. When I want doing that I kept busy in other ways.Watering Plants and helping teachers pack up stuff the go out to they're car, watering plants etc.
Highlights of the year include a visit from champ the miracle dog. When he was a puppy his owner tried to burn him to death but somehow how got rescued and some of our students raised funds for him to get surgery to correct some of the damage and he was adopted by a loving couple.
another was my 2 DJ gigs and also daily laughs and words of wisdom from Frank!Im sure there are others but those are what come immediately to mind.

A new season begins

Today we had our annual BHIA meeting. It was strange not seeing Coach Fio there. He was there in spirit im sure.He would want us to carry.and carry on we will.We have new uniforms this year.
As the Beach season starts another school year ends. This year our math and Science teacher Mrs Tweed is retiring.
The end is the year stress isnt getting to me like it used to.I think Im just learning to blow it off or simply not let it get to me.
I have to keep reminding myself that when Jill tries to blame something on me that I KNOW isn't my fault that GOD knows that truth so give it up to him.Still it bugs me that im made the guilty one when im not but i must remember that God knows the truth and to know he will deal with it.
OK back to the beach it will be great to see all my happy patrons once again and I hope they all retur safe and sound!
Heres to another great beach season!Woohoo!

People,places and Things

After I arrived home from work I went about my daily routine, take in the mail, sort it and let Bayou (Nancy and Dans) dog out.It was a beauty of a day.Not a cloud in the sky!Not too hot and just a perfect day weatherwise!
After I let Bayou in I gave her a biscuit and went upstairs and got changed, checked my email and then sat on the porch with a coke and relaxed.Decompressing set right in and the calm and beauty of the day made me realize how good I have it.
Sure I have my rough days where I wonder who cares and who is playing me and using me.Theres a gospel song thats has a line that goes"just do your best and pray that its blessed and he'll take care of the rest"He meaning Jesus.I often have to remind myself of that.
Today was one of those days where I felt the Lord was saying Good job honey keep it up.
Lately Ive been sending mixes to my friends at zero but havent been sending them out to many cousins and friends so today I made a list of folks Ive felt Ive been neglecting mixwise and will make them a mix this week. There too I wonder if folks truly appreciate the mixes I make them or just say "another mix from Trish thats nice"or if they feel the excitement and joy I feel when I get a mix in the mail.
Well I do it because I love music and sharing that love with others.
Last week I saw my fellow mixmaker and friend Curt who was on leave from the navy for 10 days.In the short time he was here he managed to find time to make me an awsome mix and I gave him a mix he liked too!
I must remember to send him a nice note of thanks.I'll wait till after school over then I can truly focus without the end of the yeah busyness clogging up my brain.
Yesterday on mybikeride I saw a red truck rolling into the Bay Head public works and I swore it said BHIA on it.I followed and sure enough there were a few lifeguards emerging from it.Yep we have a red truck now. This weekend the Beach will be opened and I'll be returning to my post on Chadwick Street aka The bluffs,Gull Alley.the walkway is an alley the only alley the leads to the beach.Thats why the lifeguards refer to it as gull alley!

The Library:Its NOT just about books anymore

When I was young I remember going to the library and picking out a book with my closs and having it for a week.I thought thats all they had at the library.
In my mid 20s when I started making mixtapes someone told me you can loan out CDs and tapes from the library.today not only to they have music but they have videos, computer you can use for a half hour to an hour depending on how long you want. They even have a copier.10 cents a copy.not bad huh?
In My early mixmaking days someone would suggest I listen to a band and Id go to see if the library had it.its a practice I still use today.
I have discovered some cool world music and jazz through the library and the library plays a big part in broadening my musical horizons.
Check out your library to see if they have nice music and movies!

Ouch

With the start of the hot weather of course masquitos.June just started and already I have 3 bites on my right arm and one on my left wrist.dayam!Im sure the yellowjackets are not far behind.every year I have a few baby yellowjackets buzzing round my post on the beach.Ive only been stung once in my 10 years.
Speaking of insects Ive also noticed when someone drops food on the walkway by my stand it doesnt take long for ants to find it.Maybe 20 minutes.A potatoe chip is gone the next day its found. Its amazing what an army of ants can do!They break that thing up and bring it on back to the nest im guessing.think about that next time you wana eat at the beach.

afro sounds

The Ghana Special
I picked up this CD at the library of african music.I dont know any songs here but the beat is interesting.according to the Liner notes it was made in the 70s.Im listening to a song right now by a band called Vis a vis the song isobi agye me dofo very danceable.American funk was surely an influence. The beauty about music is that differant cultures inthuence each other and say hey thats mine but instead say wow we must have a good beat going if other cultures enjoy it.
Jimmy Cliff and Bob marley were my introduction to the tunes of africa.Herb Albert was my introduction to mexican music.I was turned onto world music at an early age but didnt realize other doors would open up later on in life as far as my musical influence go.Folks enjoy my world music spins when I DJ.
mynext CD Ill play is by David Bromberg. In high school I hated bluegrass because thats all my brother would play one one time but after gangster rap can on the scene I gave bluegrass another listen this time with an opened mind and liked it.
