housebound?

The day after christmas we got one heck of a snowstorm. Some call it a blizzard.
Yesterday I attemped to take a walk to the local liquire store for a simple blottle of white zinfindel.
Nancy saw me heading out and advised that I not go.I hate drama so I said OK ,turned around and went back in the house.
Later I called a friend and they said it was good advice.I went upstairs and went on the computer then watched some TV.OK whos dreamin' of a white christmas??I dont mind a white Christmas but I didn't want a blizzard either, dammit!Oops pardon my french!
Im sure many folks feel just like I do.Plans to visit family and friends most likely got postponed.
OK so last night at 111pm Nancy Calls and says there were surprises in the fridge.I went in the kitchen with the Jaws theme going through my head.I opened the fridge and there was a bottle of white Zin and a loaf of bread.
I went next store and thanked them and turns out it was courtasy of Dan!Of course.who else was 4 wheel drive.Hello! He was lounged out in his chair so I gave him a knuckle bump!He had Brendan snuggled in with him too.Dayam where my Camera when I need it!

Boxcar nancy a music review

Tonight I received a gift from My Godmother Mary.she gave me a few CDs.One of them is of a Band called Boxcar Nancy
In it is John Raido,A great singer, guitarist and songwriter who was in my Cousin Steves Band 58K.Sadly 58K disbanded but Im gladly Johns still in music and doing well.
Boxcar Nancy has that country Blues feeling. You can close you eyes and Imagine yourself on someoneones back porch swing with a glass of lemonade on a warm spring day listening to Boxcar Nancy!Theres for sure a Neil Young influence on "Turning around"I like that and Im sure Neil Young would be Touched hearing it!
I wanna but a tune or two on my next mix and hello his email address is in the liner notes soPerhps I can ask his permission and have him read this review.
Stayed tuned y'all more reveiws coming in the next couple of Days!
If you Like a touch of Country and blues you WILL Enjoy Boxcar Nancy!2 thumbs up!

snowed in

Yesterdays storm was a doozy.Except for the driveway, yesterdays storm left us a big snowbank in our front yard and today was too windy for the kids to enjoy it.Nancy and my car are plowed in.It took Dan 5 hours to get to work today, according to Nancy.
The wind is crazy and has been for 2 days.
We didnt get any mail today, nor trash pick up.Wow must be tough out there! If this keep up Ill have to cancell my dentist appointment or postpone it.In the meantime I'll watch some DVDs,makes mixes and a possible relapse of my you tube addiction? No Ill go on in moderation.lol!

one last bikeride before the holidays?!!!

As I rolled in the driveway a gameplan for the rest of the day formed in my head.
I brought in the mail, let Bayou out and gave her a biscuit when she came in.
Then I got changed and booted up the computer and did a quick check of the email.Being it was 39 degrees I went for a bikeride. The wind from the north was cold but manageable.
I went to the bank, got some money out and then went to the post office and mailed out some packages. Then I went and got wine and CDrs.It was getting late so tomorrow would be part 2 of things to get.
Tomorrow I hope my package containing Amber and Joans gift comes. If not plan B Give Amber $5.00 along with the boys and tell her the original gift is late.doh.
I plan to get Nancy and Dan a Bottle of Baileys.
I usally Have my shoping finished by now but if you read my previous blog you know why I didn't.
Last night I gave nancy and Dan they're anniversary gift. They were Happy.Dan Also went up in the attic and got my tree down.
Usually its done a week or 2 before but things are differant this year.
Usually I do it on a weekend and I have a glass of wine in my hand. This year no wine but I got it done! This memory of my parents came and so did a few tears.A sober crying jag?!yep!
between errands today I stopped my Beth and Georges House. She Pulled out a Christmas mix I gave then in 2004.Must have been my first Christmas CD mix.Ive been making CD mixes for 6 years?Hmm How many hundred CDrs must have been burned?I can even try to estimate that!We talked a bit about memories of 2004.wow.It blows by litle mind how long ago that was.Emotionally I was still raw from my Moms death and the current house where they live now was just starting to be built.
So now back to 2010 and moving fast towards 2011.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

Feel the North Wind Blow

Today as I left work I felt the warmth of the sun and aand I smiled, then I heard that familier sound. The Viciousness of the north/west wind.Sail clips were clinking against the drydocked sailboats in the boatyard next door.I realized my dream of a bikeride was deminished as the cold air cut through me like a knife as I walked to my car."Damn" I muttered.
Well I do have good news.I did start a jazzy swingy playlist and yes a few other genres have snuck they're way in there.a lil Rock and some standards
I also Started a playlist called Trish's Treasures taken from a mixtape I made in the 90s by the same name.
This summer there was an notice at Ocean County music from a record/music collector named Brian.I emailed him asking if he bought cassettes?
I addedhis email to my address book.Once in a while Ill get music news and forward it to likeminded folks.I kindly asked me to stop it so I apologiged and kept a mental note note to forward him stuff. The other day by mistake I slipped and clicked on his email and he replied and WARNED me not to send him forwards.I appoligigized and added sometimes my mouse has a mind of its own and he replied back not funny im warning you no spam!
Holy smoke this guys has NO sense of humor.
I deleted his address figuring well if he's going to be like that he doesnt desrve any busines from me.His loss!I have no tolerance for unforgiving troublemakers.life is too short.

survey got me to thinkin'?

Tonight I got some call from some company doing a survey.Do you notice that they always call between 6 and 8pm?This gentleman Im sure was an african American male and Im going guess in his 30s with a southern accent.when his talked fast I really had to listen.Based on his questions Im guessing his was calling from some christian publishing company or something of the sort.He asked about my religion, how many times I went to church and if I accepted Jesus as my personal savior.
If I had the Chance I would have given him my testamony but that always brings me to tears.
Another question was do you think your influential?Wow I don't know.I never really thought about it.I don't wake up each day an plan stuff like that.I hope im a good example though.
My friend Tyler Sherman said it best.I do what I do and hope people are blessed by it.Sure I have good days and not so good days like everyone else.
I hope I inspire folks in a good way.I try to make good choices and think of others first and hope folks see my faith though the way I live.
Gosh this is deep!If I am influential I hope I influence folks to say shes seen some rough seas in life and if she can make it so can I.

Old man winter returns with a vengence

I love Christmas but hate winter!Today looked promising for a bikeride.I headed out on my bike to the dentist after work. The ride going north was tough but If this was the worst it got aww heck I can handle it.My heart goes out to crossing guards and phone repairmen on windy days like today.
I got to the dentist on time. After he gave me Novocaine I remembered I had my cell on and turned it off.I got a temporary crown. It seems like the drilling lasts forever.I also had a death grip on the arm rest when hes drilling.I don't feel it but the pressure and the sound.. ugh!at one point it did feel it so he gave me a second shot.Pedaling home I was numb and cold.I saw a few others on bikes and walking.brr!I kept mumbling to myself en route home Dayam its cold.it was more like numbling.my speech was a little slurry because I was so numb.Thank the Good Lord I didn't have to stop and talk to anyone. They would swear I was drunk!
The North wind was brutal!
Walking it my front door I let out an aw year heat!I didn't care who heard me.I listening to two cool mixes I got in the mail. One from someone in IMP and the other one from my the snarkfest mix exchange.I great welcome home after a rough trip to the dentist.
my creative engines are revving again.I ordered a few Christmas jazz Cd's from the library.I may be able to start a new jazz mix this year.Ive been in a jazz/reggae mood lately.I'm thinking or butting together another reggae mix too! Also I'm my agenda is a Beatles mix.a Mix of my top 20 Beatles songs.

music review-Dizzy Gillespie,Loreena Mckennet.

If you interested in Studying the jazz and big band sound of the 40s be sure to includeDizzy Gillespies music in your research.Tonight I listened to a CD called Birks works.Great big Band grooves with trumpet and rhythm that will get you cutting a rug.Although it was recorded in the late 40s Dizzies music is timeless!
Another artist you should lend your ear to is Loreena McKennett. In the Mid 90s I started listening to a new age series called Pure moods.Loreena is the Irish Karen Carpenter musically Speaking. Her voice is Flawless!

A cold day brings warm reflection

After a busy day at work I decided to walk to the post office to mail out 8 packes of CD mixes.it came to $17.00!OK a tad costly but well worth it.When folks see something special like that in the mail after a busy day at work and enjoy the music $17.00 goes a long way!Call it an obsession, call it a hobby but I enjoy sending music to fellow music lovers. Many times I get a few mixes in return.
Shortly after my dad died i found a site called Internationalmixtapeproject.com
I got my first mix on a cold wintry day after a busy day at work.
I have a small notebook filled with names and addresses with folks who like me loves sharing this great hobby.
OK Im Rambling!alright so I mail out my mixes and get milk and also a bottle of wine.
When I was heading home it was dark.During this time of the year I enjoy walking after dark and seeing all the lights and decorations adoring peoples houses.
It amazing me when I see a whole tree decked out.You can tell who really took time to make the property look nice and festive and who did things well half baked.I love Christmas. The Joy on the ChildrenS faces and the music and spirit fill the air.
Im going to do the best I can to go for more walks after work to see lights and decorations around my area.
TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY!HO HO HO!MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

ON VH1 theres a reality series called celebrity rehab. Its about celebrities that have drug and alcohol Problems and go to a guy named Dr Drew Pinsky for help. Most of them got into the party life and couldn't stop. Some one them had been abused as youngsters and their only way to deal with it is to get high.
I sometimes try to predict who will make it.Its hard to tell with this batch.Leif Garrett is the only one I really know. When he was younger he and a friend were driving drunk and they got in a crash.Leif didn't get hurt bad but his friend is crippled.Thats gotta be one heck of a load to carry day after day.I do hope he gets sober though.
Not much good is on TV these days.As far as Christmas movies Go Polar express and its a wonderful life are worth watching every year.
I finally Finished my library hits mix and will post it soon.theres a few mixes I said that about isn't there?

Christmas in Bay Head , A DJ Gig and Chatter

The Christmas Season had Started!
I loaded up my 5 CD changer in the den with Christmas music except for one which I may put a jazz mix in.
This Friday is Christmas in Bay Head when the stores stay open till 9pm and Santa arrives at the Firehouse on top of the old firetruck and Our School Chorus sings.Im not sure about the band playing.
The shops serve neat little cookies and punch or coffee. When its below 40 degrees I usually skip it.I don't like walking around for hours freezing my butt off!
Saturday is my gig at Rockin Joes for our youth group 26th year reunion.Gosh I hope no one gets a bright idea to have us give a testimony.I'll say I have Junior alzheimers and can only remember how to spin CDs.lol! No better yet Ill tell them the owner doesnt have flood insurance that covers extreme emotional breakdowns...no better yet I signed a contract saying I was not going to cry when I Deejayed.
Sunday Im relaxing and starting the task of writing Christmas Cards. If its real nice Ill take a bikeride first and maybe get a little shopping done.
I just ordered a dozen CDs at the library.Theres a song I've been hoping to get on CD for a long time and wouldnt you know the library has it!its called 16 tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford.In the mid 1990s when I still had a turntable I bought a copy on 45s at a yard sale but it was scratchy and then one at a nostalgia shop and that one skipped. That song has been on my wish list for a LONG time.
I have a wish list in one of my notebooks I used to write down tide info in during my summers at the beach.Every now and then I come across it.
Its called 45 wish list. Its songs I had on 45s I wish I had on CD.
My next mix is going to be Called Library Hits 2010!Our library had great music and it will consists of music I got through out wonderful Ocean County Library! It might be a 2 CD set!

Black Friday:an Observation

Black Friday.its either your friend or your worst nightmare. When I headed out just to do a few things I took a mental note to be extra careful.Cross only at crosswalks and walk your bike across the highway.
People are anxious to get to their next stop.my travels were going well.I got printer ink and a 50 pack of CDrs.People were hitting the horns more than usual in route home.not at me but at others.
I arrived home unharmed and unshaken.I was hoping to get out earlier but it was raining in the morning and black Friday is one of the days I refuse to take the car out.
I did take a quick trip to downtown Point beach though before heading home. The good thing about Black Friday is it brings folks together for a common goal.Shopping!
I saw one woman with a teenage girl I'm guessing was here daughter tell a man were going over here.and the man went his way.Guys dont like going into dress shops or Jewelry shore with their wives no more than woman like to go in sports shops with their husbands, right?
unless two folks want to go to the same place, its a chore. My mother never understood why I didn't enjoy shopping with her.She could spend all day in the mall on a beautiful day shopping and browsing.
When I shop I like to get what I want ,pay for it and go!Then again there my music stores where yes I do browse.I think one time mom did come into Ocean County music a few times and got a taste of her own medicine. Not that that was my intention it just happened. and one day I think I said to her "aha! see?"Oh but we could go out to Frankies together and talk for hours and have a ball.We loved her Ruben Sandwiches but never finished them and brought the leftovers home and there I was fat and happy after chomping down a burger and fries.
I don't think my dad was fond of driving on Black Friday either. He'd say people drive like a--holes.Mom would just roll here eyes "Oh Tom!"
Mom was a calm chick in traffic and Dad called folks driving recklessly every word in the book.We kids would be in the back seat not saying a word.
so there it is.My take on Black Friday.

a polish rag and a cryin jag

This time of year does bring missing my parents to its highs emotionally.Tonight I was finishing the task of polishing silver when the wave of emotion hit.I was remembering how dad and I would polish the silver together and do our imatation of people in the deep south."Well well looky at dat dare shine'He'd say and Id reply "ooowee dayam dat is a nice shine dare boy!"Mom of course would be saying we were a couple of silly Billies but Im sure she too was laughing.
suddenly the crying jag hit.I stopped for a few minutes and recomposed myself and went back at it.
Both Mom and Dad love thanksgiving and christmas.Every year Dad bought a bottle of St brendans and it would last about about a
few days between the two of us.we'd sit in the Den and watch TV or listen to Christmas music.
I still buy a bottle and pretend he's still around to keep upbeat. In a way I know he is!

Oh the winds of November

8am.My alarm woke me up and for awhile I stayed in bed just listening to the news and music. The was going to be up in the 60s today so I hit the snooze button hearing the wind.I finally got up at 10 because I knew I was meeting Knight and KC at Rockin Joes coffee house for lunch and I dint want to oversleep.
I got up ,got dressed and booted up the computer and checked email, library holds status and then facebook account.
About 1:30 I shut the computer down and headed out.It seemed windy but not too windy for a bike ride.No one was home on the other side so I brought in the mail and let Bayou out.I noticed her biscuit jar was filled so I wrote a note on apost it note
Dear Mommy and Daddy
Thank you for refilling my biscuit jar
I'm so glad to have such great humans
Love
Bayou

I gave here a some rubs on the back of here head and she licked me and I kissed her on the head and headed out.
I pedaled hard because there was a strong North wind.Things were easier going into Bay Head.I arrived at Rockin' Joe's Shortly after they arrived.I had a toast Bagel and a large cup of coffee.
After words I went to Atomic Cd's.It used to be just music so its more like a nostalgia shop. The CD selection is smaller and the Vinyl selection is bigger.
I bought a Fiona Apple CD and the 30 Greatest hit of Aretha Franklin. Its a 2 CD set but it was only $10.00.thats worth it!I got both Cd's for $12.00!My little Brain told me."Trish just say thank you and shut up!"Guess I got the frequent buyer price.Something I'm sure the other customer might frown on.
Plus I gave Eric(the owner a Christmas mix!
Now that It gets darker earlier I must remember to head out earlier when going out on my rides on the weekends.
The ride home was nice. The wind had subsided.

thanksgiving

The sky is grey and the leaves are falling off the trees.Usually I try to take pictures of the trees in their fall glory before this happens but I don't know why I didn't this year.
This year Im thankful for my faith, family and friends.natch!Im also Thankful that I had a few more DJ gigs then last year and that im still working.Last year around this time I was on myspace and had a hotmail account but they got phished right before Christmas or was it nearer to thanksgiving?
anyway Im glad I found blogger and got reconnected to a dozen folks through facebook.most understood my situation and didn't hold it against me.
Last year I was having car trouble and my old bike broke.Murphy's law did a number on me!I had s--t for luck last year but hope things are better this year.
so far things are better this year then last year at this time.Except my friend Joan is in the hospital.
I made a few more Friends through my mix tape sites and have a few more folks to swap mixes with this year.My own mix exchange group is holding steady at 20 members.
The youth group I was in is having a reunion and I have the honor of spinning the tunes.yay!
Nancy and Dan Adopted 3 nice kids and they are all healthy and happy.
This past summer things went well at the beach and there weren't as many lost child calls or crazy incidents like fights etc on the beach. It was a nice summer.
I have much to be thankful for.
Happy thanksgiving to all readers
Peace and love

Remembering the Sony Walkman

Tonight I read that Sony has stopped production of the walkman. In the 1980s I bought myself a Sony Walkman and listened to the mixtapes I made to motivate myself to walk to lose some weight. My first one was black and it was stolen not long after I got it.
My second one was yellow. That one lasted much longer.I love it but it died a tragic death in the late 80s when I tripped over a raised slab of cement on the sidewalk.I tried to break my fall but failed. The walkman went crashing to the ground and the thing broke in two.I also got a scraped up elbow, ripped jeans and a bruised knee and my walking days were on hiatus for weeks but the walkman did provide some good sound that helped motivate me to walk and become a better mix maker.
Im sure many mixmakers and DJs owe the walkman many thanks for their music education and enjoyment!
Thank you Walkman.I will always remember you!

The Ultimate high..without drugs or alcohol

Althuogh I didnt go to The college of NJ I somehow get their monthly newsletter.I want to write them stating I was only graduating high school at the year they say i was graduating college!
The last newletter had an article about the college radio station. The student DJs expressed feeling like I had 10 years ago!
When I first really started DJing I felt a buzz, but was NOT on drugs.and when I got positive feedback I felt high. But I was clean and sober!Thats when I truly knew I had what it took to be a DJ!When music is in your heart and soul and your listening audience confirms it..oh man,it gets you high.you dont need drugs or alcohol, just the approval of your fans!
Many musicians and DJs want to maintain that high longer.thats where the trouble comes in!
In the late 1960s i got a little am/fm transistor radio that brought me lots of joy.Today I hope to bring that joy to others through my DJing!

Does College radio Rock?

Years agoI didnt think a college radio would be cool..Then I got turned onto whtg 90.5.Wow was my mind changed. In recent years I discovered2 more!
90.3 and wtsr
College radio doesnt play formatted music like commercial radio and is supported by their listening audience.
My Fave is whtg 90.5 the night! So Eclectic and cool! The only commercial radio I listen to know is the oldies stations
Yeah I know As I DJ I should expose myself to modern radio and that top 40 stuff but Its sick what some stations call hits!
I did watch Glee one night and well some of the singing was no no I cant say I liked it can I?Dare I?

Am I the problem or the solution?

The other day I gave one of my friends a Christmas CD.Kidding he told me I was the problem with the early start of Christmas music.Oh my just think. It will inspire you to get started early so you not freaking out a week before Christmas because you Haven't started yet.I replied.
Each year I make my Family and friends Christmas mixes. This Yeah I started making them in the middle of October and Get finished right around Thanksgiving.I usually crank out around 100 but this yeah I'm doing about 120 because I made a few new friends in my mix club and it seems some folks want an extra copy or two to give as presents.
so am I the problem or the solution?
OK onward to other stuff.Last week we got a new washer and dryer.Compared to other machines they look intimidating because of the high tech looking buttons.I refer to them as the whirlpool 2000.lol!I asked Nancy if I'm going to need to go to a workshop to learn how to use them and she said yes!She showed me how to work them and I did a load of laundry tonight. Now I'm truly a 21st century girl!

a Day in my life

Today waking up was not so east but at 10:00 I decided to get up,take a shower and start my day.
My first stop was the post office where I mailed out 9 Packages containing Christmas mixes and a few had my newest mix called "isn't that special" in them.My next stop was Muellers Bakery were I had a cup of coffee and a wonderful Blueberry Muffin.
After that I headed to The Bay Head Library where I picked up 2 DVDs I ordered
1 is Pirate Radio and the other is Endless Summer.
Afterwards I stopped at Butlers Pharmacy to get some MORE envelopes to mail out mixes in and my final stop was to get a small bottle of wine so across the street to Gerards I went.
Later the day or I should say early that Evening Sheila and I were picked up and Jimmy Kaplow and we went to my cousin Mollys 50th Birthday Party!
My Cousin Raphaels ipod was the entertainment. Its a small house. It was great to see many people I havent seen in a Long time and also met some new additions to the family.
Last nightI wanted to start a mix but had trouble deciding on a title but decided on Bubbling Hot Mix 2.
Tomorrow night I plan to watch the DVDs and Ill do a review on both sometime during the week.
stay tuned and remain cool!

yes There is still good music out there!

Last night I listened to to Now thats what i call music 33.In the 80s hip hop was fun and having fun with rhymin' but these days its about getting someone in bed.
Its all about sex and violance.Theres more to life my friends much more!
No ones rhymin' about sunsets
No Ones rhymin about about how much the government gets
No one tellin' about the sins in politics
or bout the illness the needle pricks

OK OK here are mty picks for now 33!Train,Daughtry,Kris Allen and Ashlyne Huff.I also picked up the soundtrack to Urban Cowboy.I had this album on Record and hoping for years Id find it on CD and I have via the Ocean County Library.
After the invasion on hip hop in the late 1980s I decided to give country music a try.Urban Cowboy was the soundtrack that got me interested in country music.
From There I started listening to Hand Williams,Patsy Cline and yes Johnny Cash just to name a few!I've gained an appreciation for country music and it will be evident in my next mix y'all!

Trish's Travels

Before I left work today I saw a bit of sunshine. It had been raining most of the day.
When I got home I took in the mail, sorted it and let Bayou out to attend to her needs. Then I let her in and gave here a biscuit. She knows the routine now so I dont need to tell her to sit,She sees me going for her biscuit jar and sits and gently takes it from my fingers with her teeth.
Then I run to my side get changed and head off to piano lessons every Wednesday.
At 1:30 it was nice out so I took my bike.
When I got to Joan and Tylers house Skip Applegate was there with a fruit basket.Joan was in the hospital this summer. He apologizes for the lateness but we know hes a busy man.He asked to to DJ at the Fire company's Christmas Party and I gladly said yes and also said Id volunteer my time! They are getting a new Concrete floor for the truck bay so money is in short supply!Id volunteer anyway!
After my piano lesson I went to the bank and then dropped of a letter to mail.
I was thirsty and Muellers Bakery is oh yes right there!I got an Arizona ice tea and a sugar cookie and took a seat.It looked like it was going to rain.and sure enough it started.
It was a light rain but it was rain. After Muellers I headed for the library to see if I had anything there.I had nothing there but went on they're computer and checked if anything was in transit.not yet.
From there I went to Bay Point Market to get soda and milk. That's when it started pouring rain.I had a cup of coffee and waited for it to stop.20 minutes later it did.
My last stop was CVS.I wanted to go to Bordans but I think they close at 5:30 and it was 5:20.I bought ink cartridges for my printer. As expensive as it is I buy both at once now because I know no sooner will one need a new cartridge the Other one will run out of ink a few days afterwords.
I was also going to get wine but it was starting to get dark so I'll do that Tomorrow.

Wisdom in a card

As I was cleaning my room tonight I found a greeting card that read:Savor each day for the gift that it is.About now your most likely thinkin'No Trish no more wisdom please.
Late this Afternoon I was sitting on the porch as the wind was blowing and the leaves were falling yet there I was drinking tea with just a t shirt and jeans and its the end of October.
When I went inside for another cup the phone rang.It was my friend Duke Clement saying he had a mix for me.
He came over about 7ish and gave it to me and we talked a bit.Its called Indian Summer and its an awesome collection of mellow tunes.Seeing Duke and getting a surprise made for a gift of a day.
I also am doing better at using spell check.Im a good speller but not the best typist.Oh how spell check humbles me!

Cocktail Hour 2008 by djtrish

Bully your a Bully

This Morning my radio alarm woke me up at 8am as always.I have it tuned to 107.1 the breeze.
There was a Gentleman on there talking about anti bullying. He goes around to different schools and talks about bullying and how to stop it.
Being victim of this when I was in my younger teens I listened and remembered what it was like for me.
I wasnt psysically bullied but mostly verbally. My self esteen suffered for a long time.I was called things like retard, reject and four eyes.
The gentleman said words are powerful and can lift you up or bring you down.
He also said some teens came home and theres noneone home to talk to which makes them want to turn to drugs or suicide.
Luckily for me there was someone home most of the time.Either my mom or our dog Snoopy. When Id come home from school he would jump up on me and lick me on my face as if to say oh good your home,I love you!Id pet him and take him for a walk or let him out in the back yard.
Then there was the music.Id turn on the radio, records or whatever and feel the bad feelings subside.
People who are bullies are bullies because they themselves have a low self image so in order to feel cool they bully people.
Many bullies come from disfuntional families or are vitims of bullying themselves.
Don't let a bully ruin your day..or life.
Just because your in a special Ed class DOES NOT mean your retarded!
Many turn out ok and do well in life!

cold toes

Every Year I try hard to hold of on turning on the heat till November.Like last year Mother Nature drop the temps down so low I had to turn the heat up.Dayam!
I recently discovered I can share my playlists I post on ZeRo to facebook and Blogger.hmm.
Im working on a new mix Titled "Isn't That Special"after a mixed cassette I made in the 90s .This playlist is differant though. While I was without the internet for a while I did go into the archives and listen to a few mix cassettes I made in the late 80s and 90s.
Although many prefer the sound of records CDs have a cleaner sound.Sadly though theres stuff not reissued on CD.
My friend Tyler transferred some records onto CD for me and so did my friend Knight.
Id like to someday inport a few songs into my itunes.Perhaps after the holidays when I can delete all my christmas music and have more space in my hard drive!
I recently learned how to used the spell check and make corrections. My spelling is good but its but typing skils that are not so good.OK time for bed
Gnight!

this and that random stuff!

The other day..I think it was Tuesday I went downtown to Pt Pleasant Beach to pick up more CDrs.Bay Ave was line with Political posters.A few were for my friend Kris Tookers run for town council in the Beach.Unlike the rest Krissys campaigns arent trashing the other guy.She just states what she is going to do.
Today I saw a halloween CD on the Boiler Room Counter That Frank used to Play when he used to be the DJ at our school Dances.Ah the good old days. There were times he let me dj for a while and he dissapeared.I often wonder where he went.Other times he would put on a compilation CD or tape and dissapear and his wife Cathy and I wondered where is he?
Frank Recently told me he went out for a smoke back in those days.Thankfully he stopped smoking but still left for a breath of fresh air and left me to DJ or put on a comp!He always did a fine job setting up for the dances.I miss those days!
In 05 he retired from DJing. We had other DJs before I got my gear but the kids left halfway though the dances.Sadly we just let Antrim have the dances.
Im happy to say I've been DJing at Davy Jones day for 10 years!I DJed at the Clam bake for 3 years and looking forward to my 2nd year at the Earthday celebration next April!Oh yes and Ive DJed at the duck race and Shark run for 2 years.
I had my first DJ gigs at the Beach house Movies night this past summer and hope for more next summer.
The Beach Library got some renovations done a few years ago and I stopped in to check it out after my trip to Bordans. It looks nice.I picked up a Carol King CD of her greatest hits.A few tracks will be on my next mix!
OK thats it for now.Stay tuned for more news and Idle chatter soon!

How Sunsets remind me

Tonight there was a wonderfull Orange sky as the sun was setting. As I was getting ready to have dinner I stopped and stared at it.Like the early morning reflections on out atlantic Ocean Sunsets touch my soul and remind me of Gods love for us!Its like hes saying heres a beautiful sunset I made to soothe your soul.
Any anger or worry goes out the door when I see a sunset like I did tonight.
The year after by dad died I dread this time of year because it was the time of year he died.
Im beginning to like and appreciate this time of year again although I still thing of my dad and mom alot during this time of year!
Christmas time and New Years is kinda hard for me too But I press on the best I can
because I know they would want me to!
Today as I rode my bike I noticed how pretty the tress are too.the changing colors are cool!
Ill be glad when election day passes and all the advertisements and nasty campaigning stops.

Im Back!

Hello my friends
Since my last log in I had internet connection problems that are now fixed.
Im sure you've heard the old saying"You dont know what you have till you've lost it"
Wow isnt that the truth!
I felt disconnected from the world.
Small things like do I have anything on hold at the library was a question I had to get answered by calling the library on the phone instead of a fast search online.
I see folks with their iphones and blackberries and wish I had one just for little things like thats at the library for me.
Its like wanting to turn on the radio when theres a power outage.
Yes I am a bit more addicted to the internet more then I was willing to admit.
I did watch more tv than I normally do!Among stuff I watched was Dog the Bounty Hunter, repo man and the Show about the animal control.VH1 and A&E are good.the rest of the stuff..Ehh!
Im not a big game show watcher but I do stayed glued to "Dont forget the lyrics" when I see it.Then again it is about something close to my heart..music!Natch!!!
One day while going to work I was dropping some rhymes.
Yoo
get outta the way
I gota get to work on time
hey
How much slowa would ya goa
Don't wanna be late
don't ya knowa

Uh oh yes the previous night I did watch 8 Mile.

Yo Trish
redeem yourself
put that remote on the shelf
That MTV is gettin to your brain
Pick up a book to keep
from goin insane!

OK time to say goodnight
Peace out!
Trish

So Long Summer

One More Summer we bid goodbye.
It went past way to fast.
Hot days are just a memory now.
We await falling leaves and then a snow plow.
Glasses of cold water will be replaced by soup and hot Tea.
Summer 2010 Is now a Memory!

The Duck Derby

The weatherman was right about todays weather! After 2 days of rain, the sun finally appeared late yesterday afternoon.
Today I woke up later than I should have but somehow got through the traffic without losing my mind.Im sure there were a few bad words springing from my mouth en route though.
OK so I get there and after getting ready to set up,Frank tells me that that band and I are set up in front of Boro Hall!
We drag everything over there and set up.My Cables were a tad tangled but its my own fault for NOT untangling them last night.
So I waited till the band playing the shark run finished and then I started.
Meanwhile the Sherman brothers were warming up.
This small group of Zumba Demonstrators come in front of us and the woman ask me to stop playing so I did.
They danced to about 3 songs and then tell me I can start playing again.I played a few songs and then they wanted to do a few more routines. So I hit the breaks again.
they did a few more routines and then handed it back to me.
I got in about 25 Minutes of playing time before the Sherman Brothers started.
After they started playing I went on a quest for a 2nd cup of coffee. My first one got knock over while I was setting up.Thankfully non of my gear got wet!
around noontime It started getting warm enough to ditch the sweatshirt.I had my Yellow Submarine T shirt on That I was happy to show off!
There were many announcement made between songs but I received positive feedback so I had no complaints.
I think some members of the band were dissapointed there wasnt a better turnout and folks werent Dancing but I didnt let it bother me.At least no one told us wew were too loud!Thats a pain!People stand 5 feet from the speakers and tell you they can hear themselves think.I wanna reply "Stop Thinkin and Start dancing!"
When I got home and got my gear packed away I sat out on the dock and enjoyed probably the last of the really warm days till next spring!
It was a beautiful day!

I know by the time I got to the beach the contest would be over.
I remember Knight,KC and Gran Marie were meeting at Rockin Joes so I got dressed and biked over there.I had a blueberry Muffin and coffeeand their Friend Tom Joined us so I treated him to coffeeand had a 2nd cup myself.
After we left I was thinking of making some social calls but I started to feel sick in the belly again so I headed home and took a nap.
3 hours later I woke up. I felt better so I had dinner.
Afterwards I watch some episodes of Adam 12 on DVD.I turned on the Air conditioner because it was hot in the house!

slight you tube relapse

The other night I had a little relapse with my self proclaimed you tube addiction.I was watching old Adam-12 promo clips,Captain Scarlet and Dr Who.I liked the episodes with the daleks. We are the supreme daleks you must obay or you will be exterminated.
I wonder what a battle btween the Daleks and the Mysterons would be like.
I imagine it would be something like this
This is the voice of the mysterons we know you can hear us Daleks!
They would say we are the daleks we are the supreme beings!
Today in the mail I got a few items from oldies.com.The big one was Adam-12 season 4!I had a Crush on Kent McCord when I was 9 years old.I think I had a crush on both of them.Im older and wiser now but its still nice to watch an old fave.
I also got Blondies Autoamerican CD.I had it on vinyl when I was in high school.
The other one is a compilation of sci fi movies and TV themes.I might make a halloween mix this year!

Seafood Fest 2010

My day started at 7am with a shower and then it was off to the drs.
Nancy and I got home about 9:20 and then I went about the business of crankin out a few mixes for people I knew I would see today.
I hit the road by bike at about 10:30 and went to the post office, the Library and then the seafood fest.
I got my usual fish n chips as I have for the past 20 years. One year I broke tradion and tried a burger but it was too well done so I stayed with fishn chips from then on.
around 12:30 it started getting really crowded so I hopped on my bike and went to the Tiki bar.
Dr Cheeko and the guys were great. They did a melody of Micheal Jackson tunes by request.I had 2 beers and went for a walk after the first set and walked down to the inlet.
I wanted to go back for DR cheekos 2nd set but I was tired.
when I got home I took a nap.It was a busy day!
This year My toes were not run over by wheelchairs or baby strollers!

15 artists that impacted me musically

a fellow mixmaker is doing a challenge 15 albums in 15 minutes
I can narrow in that time or exact album but I can tell you artists who have inpacted me musically
1 The Beatles- so cute,so Talented and so creative its a shame they didnt stay together longer. The guys who sang come together couldnt stay together!
2 The Steve Miller Band-When I heard Fly like an eagle on the radio in 8th Grade I taped it every time I heard it.I cranked the volume every time I heard it.
3 Bob Marley and The Wailers-It took me a while to understand this new thing called reggae when I was in high school.I was a rock girl it wasnt till years later I got hooked on it
4 Miles Davis- I wasnt used to 10 minute songs except innagaddadavida but knew so what was one of the cooles jazz songs i heard
5 Herb Albert-My dad got me hooked on this jazz stuff at a young age
6 Peggy Lee-I got my Dad a cassette of hers on sale for his birthday one year and thought wow shes pretty cool.
7 Martin Denny-I think he would be considered an introduction to world music to me when I heard his song quiet Village in the 70s
8 Charlie Daniels-The first country record I bought was Million Mile Reflection.so awsome!
9 Irish Rovers- Like reggae the Irish Celtic bug didnt get me till years later after hearingThe unicorn song!
10 Johnny Cash-I got into Johnny Cash in the 90s.He had such a deep faith.I still cry watching his video of "Hurt"
11 Kraftwerk-I first heard Trans Europe Express in the late 80s.
12 Nina Simone-Someone gave me a record of hers years agoSome says shes blues, others say she jazz
13 Marvin Gaye-Another great man of faith a something important to say in his songs
14 My brother was always playing his albums in high school and by the 90s I was getting Parrot Head fever too!
15 Genesis-In the mid 80s I "Duke one one of my most played albums after a busy day at work!
There my friends are 15 of Mine..NOW please tell me 15 artists that impacted YOU!

Oh Magestic Atlantic Ocean

Its been a week since Ive been to the Beach.
After work I got changed into my usual T shirt and Jeans and took a bike ride.
The First full week back at BHS has started.
After Lunch today one of the teachers informed me that copier was low on paper so I went to get more.
To my Horror there were only 2 packs left.I usually call Bordans when we're down to 4!Alica (Our Administrative assistant)and I agreed a call to bordans was needed so I called.
I HOPE they come first thing in the Morning!
OK so after work I went to the post office and then to Central qnd had a Klondike bar and coffee and sat outside on one of the benches.I saw a girl from 8th grade and she said she was going to the beach. After my little chocolate and Caffein session I thought theres an Idea!
I hopped on my bike and waited for the light.
I got a whiff of the salt air the moment I pulled up on Mount Street. There was Caitlin eating a Pint of Coffee Ice Cream.I stood where the badgecheckers chair would be and took a deep breathe "ahh I love that ocean air!"I exclaimed.
It seemed to be low tide and calm and the water looked clean.
Theres something about the Ocean that magically takes away any stress you may be feeling.Perhaps its the way the golden sun hits the sand.Maybe its the sound and sight and the waves hitting the beach.
Caitlin and I got chatting about what flavor ice creat we prefered. She likes coffee Ice cream but doesnt like coffee.I like coffee but not coffee ice cream.
After the decompression strated I realized I had one more trip to make. The library.
I got there just as they were closing so I just as they were closing so I justed droppedd of the stuff to be returned and headed home.

missing the point?

Today I woke up and heard Bob Levy On the radio hosting topic A
there were a few listener that complained about the change of the music format.Bob replied to one caller "Well I like it"
Its not about YOU Bob!
A few years ago WCBS fm attempted changing they're format.People Im sure emailed, wrote and voiced they're opinion that THEY didnt like it.They went back to kind of an old format but things changed.
When Radio stations change they're format they risk losing loyal listeners. The loyal listeners are the glue to a great radio station. If you change your format you will get new listeners BUT you will LOSE the LOYAL listeners!
LOYAL listeners are listeners who talk about you, promote you and listen without fail.
While trying hard to stay current many stations forget who truly matters. The listening audience!
Alrighty I got that off my chest!

car show

Today after work the sky looked a bit cloudy but I decided to do what I had planned anyway.I got changed into jeans and a t shirt and headed out and went to see Sheryl at Special T graphics where I bought a small bag of soda and beer can tabs that she collects for a group called happy tabs. The get money for them which helps a local family with children suffering with cancer help pay medical expenses.
Next I went to the Point Pleasant beach car cruise. There are antique car on display.Theres also food and entertainment by Ed Austin and DJ Tommy Lynch. Both nice guys.Tommy and I talked and he showed me his set up.We exchanged contact info.Sometimes Im asked if I do weddings.I havent yet but when asked again Id like to refer someone who I think is good and has experience doing it and Id recomment Tommy Lynch!I think if more musians and DJs helped each other out it would be nice.
I once heard someone say they hated DJs.Where Would Elvis and the Beatles be without the DJ?stuck playing bars!
The cars were nice too.One thing I noticed that some old cars has CD players in them.I think modernizing antique cars take away the originality and value.
The Next car show is Oct 5th from 12noon till 4pm!

a Christmas mix in the works already?

Each year I start earlier on my Christmas mix because each year I love Creating them. Its my Fave Holiday.Being I have a few fellow mixmakers who are overseas Ill send those ones out before thanksgiving.
This years will contain some jazz and rock faves.Last years mix was doused in World Christmas. Some liked it while others found it lacking upbeat grooves for their kids!
I dont require a theme in my mix exchange but I may encourage folks to make a Christmas mix.
No Im NOT going to give into political correctness and call it a Holiday mix!

So Long Summer

As I rode to work today the reality of the end of summer hit me.Im going from Hearing"Bluffs Checker.. Trish" on The radio to Hearing Trish to the Main office"Over our PA system at school. The sound of waves crashing against the beach will be replaced my the hum of the copier, school bells, lockers being opened and closed and yes teachers and students in the hall. Now Im going back to jill and Franks one liners. The smell of salt air will be replaced by freshly mowed grass!
I wont be zig zagging East Ave traffic on my bike ..now Im zig zagging traffic in the hallway.
Oh don't grt me wrong It will be nice seeing everyone again.Teachers and Students!
After Labor day I enjoy things settling down traffic wise.Just as you get used to it though the holiday rush hits us!
After almost 3 months away from each other Jill seems happy to see me again.haha! In June it seems she glad to be rid of me for awhile!
We Have a few new staff members so it will be interesting how the year plays out.So here we gooo.School Year 2010-11!

His name is Earl!

Seeing that it wasnt raining at 8:45 this Morning I headed of to work and made my usual stop to Bay Point Market,
It didnt start raining till I headed off to work. When I got to the shack Liz had informed me we were closed for the day so we but my bike in the shack and she drove me home!
I got out of my wet unifor and hong it on the towel rack in hopesit would be dry by morning.I told Jill Id be in if it rained today so I called the school and headed in.I wore jeans and my Yellow Submarine T shirt.Shes a Beatles fan too so I knew she would approve.
I got in my newly fixed car and she runs good as new. There was a crate of mail to sort but I needed coffee.Luckily Frank had a fresh pot made up!
I sorted the mail and sipped on my coffee. Our New music Teacher came in and Jill asked me to give her a tour so I did.She seems nice.
Wally our Computer Tech was there too.We are getting new Macbooks.A few folks said I sould get one but Im fine with my desktop.I dont want a lap top or an iphone.I spend enough time on my computer and such an upgrade would make me a complete slave to technology which I have no intention of becoming!
After I save the tour I finied up sorting the mail and delivered it to the clasroons and place it on each teachers desk and made sure each door was lock afterwards.
Jill showed me the 2 boxes of mail in the boses office to be shredded that Ill jump on after school starts Being fridays are me long days Ill hope to get on it next friday.
The trip home wasnt as rainy as the trip to school but I was sure more rain was coming by the looks of the sky.
When I got home I had some luch and a soda, checked my email and took a nap.
Earl didnt hit us with the wholloping wind and rain everyone talked about.Im sure the ocean was churned up though and the Beach Cleaners will have they're work cut out for them Tomorrow.
Tonight I went on the library website and ordered a few CDs
I decided on "Bay head Boogie" for the title of my next mix and It might turn out to be a 2 parter.Maybe 3!

Music new and reviews

Yesterday I got a mix from my new mix buddy Joshua.Like me he enjoys oldies and obscure funny stuff. He made me a 2 CD set that has awsome tunes on it.
Today I made a list of songs Id like to include in the new mix.Im not one to preplan mixes but it was a quiet afternoon so I wrote down some Ideas swirling round my head.
Ideas for titles include "Songs from the beach chair"Uh oh lets not forget tears for fears has an album in the 80s called songs from the Big Chair.I only thought of beach chair because thats where I was sitting things of songs for my newest mix and I wasnt attempting to copy Tears for fears.Another Title might be "Bay Head Boogie"I was in Bay Head at Beach Head Beach thinkin' up these songs.
Last week I ordered 3 CDs from oldies.com
Here are the 3 CDs I ordered
Sting-Dream of the Blue Turtles
My Fave CD of his Post Police solo Albums.I remember listening to this over and over on my Sony walkman.
Love Unlimited-The Best Of.Great 70s Soul!
25 All Time Novelty hits-VA.I was inspired to get this after a conversation at a friends house talking about funny songs
The Music industry has lost its sense of humor lately...with exception to Weird Al Yankovich.

green flag greatness

After days of yellow flag status. We were green today.Patrons were happy.Boogie Boaders especially the young ones were really happy.Im sure Beach goers were also happy not to hear whistles blowing all day!
Some say theres another hurrican that supposed to churn up out seas again.Others say it will miss us and just blow itself out ..whatever that means.
I dont have control of the weather and mother nature is hard to predict so we will just have to see.
In other news The President declared an end to combat in Iraq. This should end of the talf about the building of the mosque near ground zero..for awhile. The press will talk this issue dry.We still havent found Bin Laden yet have we?
I made a new playlist and have another rollin round my head.Titles are swirlin round my head like a twister too.
I'll post them both when the new one is finished. Most likely over the weekend!

A beautiful Night

Wow!What a night!
I started off playing Reggae and a little dance music. My friend Jimmy Kaplow showed up with his Mom and 2 other friends.THAT truly touched me.I played some grateful Dead and Beatles just for him.He liked my DJ gear and what I spinned. There were a few raffles, more music and the Movie,"Castles in the sky" was cool.
After the Movie Sandy told me to play more music.I started out with some jazz and then some surf tunes including surfer bird wich a few folks dance too.I threw in other dancable tunes and the tunes were a hit.I was stoked!Dayam! My last song I played was Judy Colling "Amazing Grace"
Why does that song bring me to tears?is it the song or her Flawless Voice?Perhaps both!
I got lots of positive feedback and felt lots of love.It was awsome!I do what I do and hope folks have fun and are blessed by it and given a moment to get away from everyday stress and get caught up in the music and Dance leaving behind all the worries of the world if only for a few hours!
Peace and Love to all who came out for the fun!
Special Thanks and Eric,Sandy,Cooper and the rest of the Beach house Peeps!
Peace and Love

A fun day of music and friends

As usual my Alarm went off at 8am.I hit the snooze button and then it went off again at 8:15 and the radio was playing Tina Turners Song "Simply The Best"
I got up and answered Natures call.I want so badly to catch another 15 minute snooze and something in my head said "NO you DON"T..Get up!"
I got up and got dressed and cleaned up.
I was debating on whether to take the bike or walk to the firehouse where my DJ gear was.Chip picked it up yesterday and said if I find a way there he will bring me and my gear home.
If I walked there would be one less thing to pick up.It was also a nice day and perfect for a walk.
I did leg stretches at the top of the bridge..yeah I know I should stretch before I get started but I didnt.
When I got to the firehouse my first thought was to go to Muellers and get coffee but the Line was a mile long. The Firehouse had cofee but no cups.My quest for coffee came up empty.
I found where my Gear was stored and went about the business of setting up.I was lucky enough to find an old rust handtruck and used it.
By the time I was set up and made sure I had power it was 10ish.I played light rock oldies and Jazz at a low volume per Chips request.
I also played Anchors away for one of the guys who was in the Navy.I teased him and told him I have to play the Marines hymn next year!
Meanwhile Tyler and the band had arrived and were getting squared away.
The 12 oClock Whistle blew and so I welcome everyone and played some reggae and surf tunes,Then Introduced them and they played for an hour.
we each had 2 one hour sets.
There wasnt much dancing that I saw but I got good feedback.I felt good about that.
I saw a many alumni from BHS and a few lifeguards.
A reporter from The Ocean Star came over and asked me how to spell my last name and what town I lived in.
Tomorrow I go back to being mild mannered Trish Mullins, badge checker...and yes in a few weeks its back to BHS.
Next Friday Ill be DJing again at the Beach House Movie night!

Today Chip came and Picked up my gear to store it in the firehouse overnight.I locked my CD case to be on the safe side.there 200 CDs in there so precautionary measures must be taken!
I also will be spinning at the next beach house movie night.Details to follow soon.

ghosts in the stereo?

2 days ago I woke up and thought I heard music. It was 7am.I sat up for a minute and it sounded like the downstairs stereo was on.WTF?I know I turned it off last night!Sometimes Ill turn the CD player off but lead the head unit on.OK could it be an electrical power trip or are my parents letting me know they're watching me?
it was weird for sure.I do often wonder if the spirit of my parents are among us.In mycase im not scared I just know they are checking up on me?
one time when I was at a friends house a can of peas fell off the shelf and were were in the next room.
In other news there was no bage checking today due to the rain.I took the time off to mail mixes to 2 cousins and get more mailing envelopes and also pick up 2 CDs at the library.yes the engines of creation are turning once again.
Im pretty much ready for Saturdays gig.Going togo to my facebook page to see if theres anyone who has a song request posted.
I will post my newest playlist soon.
check back later alligator!

extra extra read all about it new AC to come on soon!

Today I wke up at 9.30am and heard the guys work on installing our new Air condioning units.I got up and got dressed, did some emailing and headed out on my bike.My first stop was Bay Head School where I gave Frank a Beach house T Shirt for his birthday. He liked it.Then I stopped in the main office to chat with the boss and The secretary and enjoyed the cool air.Afterwords I went to see Laurie in the BOE office who is stressed by personal issues but was working hard just the same.I told her she can come down to the beach early in the morning for a decompression session. The way the sun reflects on the water in the morning calms any and all frayed nerves!
Next I went to the post office and mailed out a few mixes a some friends. My belly was telling me it need somethingso I pedaled on Over to Rockin Joes and got a great burger with fries.
Next I went and bought some CD-rs and then to the library to pick up some cds I ordered.
My last stop was Bay Point Market to get soda.Gonna be on the wagon for a bit. This weekend I felt I did a little to much drinking.Time to put the brakes on that and be on the wagon for a while.
Now for a power nap and then dinner.
Good news we may have our new ac working tomorrow night and some new CDs arrived in the mail todaso a new mix will in in the works soon!

mother natures holds the ace!

Today Bay Head beach was yelloe flag which mean dangerous swimming conditions.Patrons who wich do go in knee deep in from of the lifeguards.Rip tides and undertoes were making for big waves.A swimmers nightmare but a surfers Dream! We had a total of 10 rescues today.
Some folks dare to test there power against such conditions. When they get cought in a rip and cant get out not only are they in dangers but now a brave lifeguard must risk his or her life getting them out!
When I was 10 I got got caught in a rip and it was scary.I never went out past my angers during a yellow flag again.
Dont gamble with mother nature!shes ALWAYS holding the ace!
When in doubt don't go out!

more Trish Travels

I woke up about 11am today. The first order of business was a shower!
As my hair was drying I booted up the computer and finished getting dressed.
I was in the mood for a pizza after I checked my email so I headed down to a Pizza shop called Monalissas.A slice and Pissa is $3.00 but its a big slice with soda too btw.
After that I went to the post office to mail out mixes to friends and family. My next stop was Central Market where I bought myself a klondike bar which tasted great on this humid day and before leaving I bought Dale(a friend and coworker) a coffee and delivered that.He was happy to get the coffee and my latest mix "Shine on Brightly"
I made a brief stop at the beach house and Applegate to say hello.
Other folks I had mixes for were Bordans stationary and Vinnie at Ocean County music where I was able to slip Vinnie his mix right before he was about to start a Guitar Lesson to a young student.
I had one more mix left.I pedeled down to Atomis CDs and gave one to Eric the Owner and noticed a guy about 20 looking through records and his friend bought a few.Aha so its true!People still do buy the vinyl!cool!
Eric liked the track list of Shine on Brightly.I had 11 bucks in my pocket so onward a shopped and found a CCR cd for 5 so I got it.
I this mix giving and shopping made me thirsty so I went to the Green Planet for an orange gatorade and now all this blogging has be thirsty again so Ill have a beer on the porch and then some dinner!
Good night!

Trish's travels

Today was my day off so I planned to relax and hang out but there were a few things I needed.Computer Paper,CD Jewel cases and a few mailing envelopesbut I didnt feel like going over the brigge. The Lovelandtown bridge that is.
I went to Klotses Kitches(formally Kellys kitchen)and had a coffee and a Short stack of pancakes.the installed new cabinets on the wall and theres a new flatscreen TV!The new owner is very nice and pleasant.
Next I went to Special T Graphics to say hello to Sheryl finishing a project for a customer due to arrive any moment so out visit was short but nice.
I decided to go to the Rite aid in Stop and Shop up the road.there was hardly any traffic getting there but the parking lot was full and busy so extra caution was taken. Its amazing some folks don't get run over. They walk out of the store and into the road without looking like they're indestructible they thinkhey are?Captain Scarlet?lol!Oh well I had to pay attention to what I was doing and not worry about them.
I got what I needed and headed home.now im spening time blogging and then going to make a few copies of my latest mix.

not so rainy day

I wasnt sure If my plans to see the jaime Brown experience would go as planned.I woke up with a stiff back and took 2 aspirin. After feeling better I got dressed and headed out on the bike to execute my game plan.
I went to the bank and the library and thought I heard thunder.Sure the day was going to be a wash I stopped at Bay Point Market for lunch.I got ham and cheese wrap and a soda. Then I saw it..the sun peeking through the clouds.YES!I though.I took the last sips of my soda and went to the boardwalk. As I entered the bordwalk the sky look darker and again I swore I heard thunder. No no its the roar of the rollercoater I convinced myself.
Th was no cover fee so I just walked in and sat down and ordered a bud light. The band played and sounded great.
It rained by the bar had a roof so we barflys were safe.
I stayed only an hour then headed home to get ready to have a drink at the club with my friend susan Priddy.I saw other folks I know.
Now I think Ill have a wine on my porch!

Django Reinhart

Since discovering the greatness and beauty of jazz and swing in the late 80s many artists have got me curious about they're sound.Django is one one these artist and hear of but not really listened to so of course I went our library and ordered a box set.
everytime I discover a new jazz singer or player I think of my Dad.He gave me my first jazz record in 8th grade. He was expanding my record collection and broadening my taste in music at the same time.Im sure he was saying to himself.I gotta get this kid listening to more than she is.
Not to boast but I think he was proud of how Ive grown up musically. It all started with a Herb Albert record..the one of the girl covered in whipped cream.Yeah you know the one..admit it!

download vs whole albums /CDs

a While ago my sister told me no one buys whole CD or albums anymore. But serious music collectors do.
The cover art and liner nots are worth it even if there are just a few songs you like at first.
Resently i purchased "Lother and the Hand People" and didnt realized they were a band from the late 60s till I read the liner notes.
I also purchased Procul harums greatest hits and rediscovered old faves.
So go ahead buy The WHOLE thing at your record store or online..whatever.trust me Im right on this one!

Huh???

Today i saw a newsclip that started out saying Genral Mc Chrystal resigned his post and by the end of it it said he was fired.OK he talked to Rolling Stone..why?
yeaH now theres a good choice...lol!
an old teacher once said"That which is in your head doesn't always have to come out of your mouth'how many times has that motto saved me from getting in BIG trouble?hundreds of times!
I've learned over the years that folks WILL blame others for they're actions and NOT have the balls to admit they themselves were at fault.this is called the blame game.Instead of admitting YOU screwed up you blame it on someone else. That someone usually is a loyal person busting they're arss to do what needs to be done without questioning OR understanding.they just do it,trusting the person who told them to do it.yup yup yup..I KNOW!!!!!

another school year is gone

today we closed the door on another school year. The day started at 8am.I spend most of the morning shredding old student documents. When I want doing that I kept busy in other ways.Watering Plants and helping teachers pack up stuff the go out to they're car, watering plants etc.
Highlights of the year include a visit from champ the miracle dog. When he was a puppy his owner tried to burn him to death but somehow how got rescued and some of our students raised funds for him to get surgery to correct some of the damage and he was adopted by a loving couple.
another was my 2 DJ gigs and also daily laughs and words of wisdom from Frank!Im sure there are others but those are what come immediately to mind.

A new season begins

Today we had our annual BHIA meeting. It was strange not seeing Coach Fio there. He was there in spirit im sure.He would want us to carry.and carry on we will.We have new uniforms this year.
As the Beach season starts another school year ends. This year our math and Science teacher Mrs Tweed is retiring.
The end is the year stress isnt getting to me like it used to.I think Im just learning to blow it off or simply not let it get to me.
I have to keep reminding myself that when Jill tries to blame something on me that I KNOW isn't my fault that GOD knows that truth so give it up to him.Still it bugs me that im made the guilty one when im not but i must remember that God knows the truth and to know he will deal with it.
OK back to the beach it will be great to see all my happy patrons once again and I hope they all retur safe and sound!
Heres to another great beach season!Woohoo!

People,places and Things

After I arrived home from work I went about my daily routine, take in the mail, sort it and let Bayou (Nancy and Dans) dog out.It was a beauty of a day.Not a cloud in the sky!Not too hot and just a perfect day weatherwise!
After I let Bayou in I gave her a biscuit and went upstairs and got changed, checked my email and then sat on the porch with a coke and relaxed.Decompressing set right in and the calm and beauty of the day made me realize how good I have it.
Sure I have my rough days where I wonder who cares and who is playing me and using me.Theres a gospel song thats has a line that goes"just do your best and pray that its blessed and he'll take care of the rest"He meaning Jesus.I often have to remind myself of that.
Today was one of those days where I felt the Lord was saying Good job honey keep it up.
Lately Ive been sending mixes to my friends at zero but havent been sending them out to many cousins and friends so today I made a list of folks Ive felt Ive been neglecting mixwise and will make them a mix this week. There too I wonder if folks truly appreciate the mixes I make them or just say "another mix from Trish thats nice"or if they feel the excitement and joy I feel when I get a mix in the mail.
Well I do it because I love music and sharing that love with others.
Last week I saw my fellow mixmaker and friend Curt who was on leave from the navy for 10 days.In the short time he was here he managed to find time to make me an awsome mix and I gave him a mix he liked too!
I must remember to send him a nice note of thanks.I'll wait till after school over then I can truly focus without the end of the yeah busyness clogging up my brain.
Yesterday on mybikeride I saw a red truck rolling into the Bay Head public works and I swore it said BHIA on it.I followed and sure enough there were a few lifeguards emerging from it.Yep we have a red truck now. This weekend the Beach will be opened and I'll be returning to my post on Chadwick Street aka The bluffs,Gull Alley.the walkway is an alley the only alley the leads to the beach.Thats why the lifeguards refer to it as gull alley!
