Every Memorial day weekend I go for what I call my annual bike tour.I usually try for Saturday.
Today was a beauty but I wasnt sure if it would be because I could have sworn I heard rain at 8am so I fell back to sleep.
At 11am I woke up and seeing a blue sky I turned on the computer, got dressed and checked my email.Afterwords I had a cup of tea on the porch and figured if Im going to take my bikeride I better get to it and so I did.
Going over the Loveland town bridge I had a hankering for a donut or something so my first stop was Bay Point Market for a blueberry muffin and coffee.I was one of our lifeguards Larry Mcginn and we chatted.
I knew I was going to going to get Lollypops for Davy Jones day so While I thought of it I went to CVS.They have blowpops.just as good if not better I thought.Traffic was heavy but not crazy.
I went down Osbourne Ave to East Ave.There were a ton of Bikes at the Osbourne Street Beach. There were a few houses that were in the renevation stage.Cars line the streets from curb to curb I didnt see any empty spots. The Beach season has started and will be open officially in a few weeks. The Lyman Street Beach in Mantoloking didnt look so crowded so I stopped there. The cool Sea air was wonderful and the Ocean looked calm and clean It must have been low tide.I stood and looked the the ocean for about 10 minuted and Onward I went.
Crossing Main Ave was no problem.I figured Id have to wait and least 5 minutes on a nice day like this but I got lucky and was able to cross right away.
Barnagate lane was busy so I rode on the sidewalk if a big Van or SUV was coming. That road is norrow and gets wider at Strickland st.
I rode past my old house and the new owners are going a nice job at the landscaping.
My next stop was Applegate Hardware were I looked at Tarps.I figure its good to have a tard for my DJ gigs in case it rains.I saw one for $11.00 thats about 10 feet.Perfect for me.I'll put it on my list.
Next I went to The Beach House surf shop were Marty Showed me a promotional video that will be on you tube soon.
I was going to go to see my Friends King and Carla but the sky looked iffy so I headed home thus ending another succesful bike tour.

to those who gave they're lives for our freedom
What do you think of when you think of memorial day?The start of summer?3 days off?We often forget whats its really about. The brave men and women who gave they're lives for our freedom. We are a great country but being a great country came at the price of many lives and because of them we are free.
Lots of blood was shed, lots of lives were lost and many tears and caskets are filled with men and women who know they were serving the greatest country in the world and protecting it from Hilter,Stalin, hussein, bin Ladin and so on.Next time you hear someone claim they're rights remind them why they have them in the first place and DON'T take it lightly.Raise a pint to our men and women in the armed forces!

yes you can get good music for Under $15.00
OK so my previous blog was a tad to intense for you ayy.I apologize..no wait no I dont.Sometimes i just get real serious but hopefuly not offensive but If I did offend anyone I DO apologize for that.
Alrighty then on to a lighter topic.Breathe easy, deep breath! deep breath!
On my travels today I stoped at Atomic CDs in Point Pleasant Beach. Before entering I counted my cash.$7.00.Could I get anything good for that amount.I looked around.
Predator Dub assasins. They were on a compilation and I think they are a ska band.I want it but nope 2 bucks over my budget.Tommy James and the shondells 6 bucks.Yeah!I got it!It was a beautiful Day,not to hot and not chilly and they sky was a beautiful blue.
Although I wanted to look around and admire the beauty of the day priority one was safety. After a long cold winter some folks are like tigers lets out of a cage when a real nice day comes along they run wind regarless and bikes and children.
For the most part folks were in good spirits being mindful and considerate of each other.
My next stop was The Grind just for a chat with the owner and then to Ocean County Music just to look around. They're CD stock is smaller but they have Christmas CDs and sale but with one dollar nothing is in my budget.perhaps in October I can think about December.lol!
The cruise home was nice.I wanted to go for an extended cruise but nature was calling. After attending to the call I turned on the Stereo and had a glass of wine and then cooked dinner.
Afterwards I sat out on the porch and look forward to more time on the porch now that the warm weather is here
goodbye sweaters ,hello T Shirts!Yeehaw!

Keep In Touch
2 weeks ago My brother in Law Lost a coworker due to a Motorcycle accident. We toasted the man and Dan (My brother In law) reminded us that we must often tell those around us that we love them.I agree!
In this moderm age of tecnology we have few if any excuses not to pick up the phone to call some one up just to say hello and how are you ,etc.
when you lose someone you wish you had stayed in better touch with them but do we grab the ball and run to the goal when we have the chance?Do we appreciate the love and respect we have or ask for more?
What would we do with MORE?
many churches give to foreign ministries but what about the homeless in our own backyard?
I saw a video the other day about tent city in Lakewood NJ.it saddened me.
Shouldnt Charity start at home???
Id like to raise some funds for our local homeless..but how.A dance?Have any ideas? Please let me know.Trish

Where to find em(hard to find music and Movies)
I started my new playlist and it will be called "Let it Rock"
I6t may tuern into a 2 CD set.
Frank(my friend and DJ Mentor)and I were talking music today and he reminded me of a song called white Bird.I remember the song from when I was young and search it out on our Library website and ka-chow they had it on a compilation so I ordered it.
OK so I know I touched on this websites on a previous blog but at the risk of repeating myself Ill give you a more detailed description.
www.oldies.com
They have Music.Mostly oldies but they have many hard to find hits too in rock, reggae,Jazz and world music. They have not only compact discs but vinyl too! They have LOTS of great old Moves on DVD.They Carry Books about music and Movies at low prices! They also Have Blank Media like DVDrs and CDrs.So you say you dont Have a Turntable to play your record on?Yes they have them too!
www.CDconnection.com
If you can't find whats your looking for on oldies.com you most likely will find it here.CDconnection was new and old tunes plus imports! If you have Windows media playey you can listen to clips of music to see if thats what you are looking for!
BUT
may I suggest you go to your local record/CD store to see if they can help you first. Many music stores are waving the white flag and going out of business because many claim everyone just downloads music nowadays and that makes Collectors like me sad because I like owning CDs.Downloads can have Viruses and its not the same as having a CD.
well thats my point of view!

Tuesday gone
So its only Tuesday but the start of this week has been busy.Yesterday I went to the dentist by bike and that wind was still kickin'Still I pressed on.I was a little late but they took me right away.No Cavities!I was reminded to do a better job on flossing and cleaning the back teeth.I nearly chocked on my own spit when she(the hygenist) works on me with that cavitron water pick thing.
Today was another constant motion day and on the way home I wondered did I forget something?halfway home I realized it was too quiet.Turn on the radio stupid!I thought to myself.I turn the radio off wren I turn the car off.I think it drains the battery if I leave on on when the engines off.So Ive been told.fact or fiction?
When I get home on tuesdays I let Bayou out(Nancy and Dans dog)then I let her in,get into jeans and a t shirt and off to piano lessons I go.The wind wasnt bad today and Joan was pleased with my progress.Playing intervals is tricky but im getting it.
Today I got a mix from a guy in canada We've been trading mixing by mail for over a year.Hes into obscure jazz and 60s tunes and some world music.Im listening to it while im posting this blog and sipping Tea at the same time.We Women are Natural Born Multitaskers.

The Greatness and fun of Mix Trades
I've Started making mixtape in the 80s.In 2003 I upgraded to CDs.I often wondered if anyone else had the same passion and love for it like it did. When I had a myspace account I checked it out and sure enough there was. There was this guy Kurt in Colorado who had one so I joined up 7 months later he announced there would be no more trades.I looked around again and found this group called the international mix tape project. There were hundreds of members and even some from other parts of the world. The leader Ryan mixtape seemed in it for the longhall and truly commited so I signed up and sent it my $10.00 membership fee. over 2 years later its still going strong.Ive made a few new friends who I continue to trade with when I make a new mix.
Each month I mail a CD to a different person.I have mixes in the UK, Ireland,Germany,Austrailia,Canada and France! Its fun.
Comtimes I get feedback and sometimes I don't.But thats OK!Each Month I lookforward to a brown or write package in my mailbox.
Its great knowing there are armies of folks who share the love and passion of making mixes like I do.Ive been turned on to a few new bands too.
If this is something you would like to become of part of go to
www.internationalmixtapeproject.com
If you have a love and passion for music and making mixes this is the place for you!

Midweek review
Its Only Wednes day heres whats happened thus far
Sunday I took a bikeride.I must get up Earlier On Sundays now that the nice weather is here and get myself to church. When I do get to church I get a spiritual recharge thats helps me deal with any crud that comes my way during the week.
Monday Our Home and School Association bought us Subs for Teachers appreciation week.
at 10:45 Each day I wait by the Foyer door with a cart to help our lunch lady Jan who Delivers the hot Lunches.Right before she arrived the Milk deliverery arrivedbut we manages to get it all on the cart in one trip.Meanwhile Our administrative assistant Alicia went to pick up the subs.No sooner did I think things were going to calm down I get called over the PA systen to once again open the foyer door.
Then I went about my other duties and had lunch.
After Lunch grades K-5 put there lunch boxes on a milkcrates and I put them on the cart and deliver them and drop them off at the clasroom door.
Wouldnt ya know the Elevator Inspector arrived but I was able to take the cart up but had to wait till they left to bring it back down. While I was getting in Frank said "Didnt you say this wont hold the weight of a cockroach"as the doors closing"I laughed!
After work I had an Appointment for the Ear dr.Every 4-5 months I get wax cleaned out of my ears. Its doesnt hurt but I feel the room spinning when hes in there with a suction tube.Thank God Nancy drives me.Sometimes I feel queezzy in the way home and feel like Im going to puke.
Tuesdays I have Piano lesson
Wednes AVG runes a virus scan when I turn the computer on and log on and I usually take a nap.Now thats its nice out I should take a walk.
I got a call from my cousin Mollyand shes coming over tonight and we're going to have Pizza and beer!
I hope the rest of the week is calmer then it started.
this concludes my midweek report.

my creative engine starts up again!
So by Now most of you readers know I like making mixes, right? If you read the previous blogs you do!
Once in a while I'll run dry on ideas for a mix.It doesnt take much reignite the flame that sparks the fire though. This Past week Matt (My brother in laws Dad)ask me If I had a song called "Danny" by Bobby Goldboro.I had that on 45 I replied it was the flip side Of "Honey"
I told him Id look it up on Oldies.com a while later I went up to the computer and sure enough they had it.Oh but I cant just order 1 CD..nooo!
Hhavemy wish list of songs
I ordered 2 more CDs.
The other song Im looking for is Time has come today by the chambers brothers so I looked that up.Score! The last song I looked up was look what theyve done to my song ma by the new seekers..Scored again.
I printed out my shopping basket and will send it in with a check.
Theres more on the list but Ill be financially prudent and wait till July for my next shopping spree.
Monday morning Rolls around and our 6th Grade Teacher who is also a music fan asked me where I get my music and If he gave me a list would I be able to make him a mix.Naturally i was up for the challenge
I find 8 out of 10 songs he wants on the library website and order them.
Tonight I see my mixing buddy Doowad made a mix called Jingle Jangle.Hmm I asked myself wasnt that a name of a song?
curiosity grabs hold of me and I look it up on the Library website.Yup the Archies did it.what did I do.I put it on hold.
In The Early 90s there was a store in Point Pleasant Beach called the Time Machine.
It was nostalgia store. They also had used records, and tapes and a few CDs.I rarely walked out of there without spending at least $10.00!
When I first started making mixtapes I just listed the song and then one day the owner told me I should list the artist too.so I did and if I had room on the index card I thanked the folks and inspired the mixtapes.
